McKenna (McJack): Heavyweight contender Chris “Nightmare” Arreola (35-2, 30 KO’s) is pushing for a fight with WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO and The Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 53 KO’s). And if Chris lands the fight he thinks he has a decent shot at not only defeating Wladimir but knocking him out.

Arreola has a brawling style that appeals to boxing fans and at 6’4”, 240 pounds he packs a wallop as his KO record indicates. But to take on “Dr. Steelhammer” Chris will need to take his “A” game with him if and when the two clash.

Arreola fought Vitali Klitschko in September 2009 and while it was an entertaining fight, it was also very one sided with Vitali bludgeoning Chris into submission, forcing his corner to stop the contest after the 10th round. Seven months after being stopped by “Dr. Ironfist”, Arreola lost a unanimous twelve round decision to Tomasz Adamek.

After losing to Adamek, Chris had somewhat of an epiphany and decided that if he was going to continue with his professional boxing career then he had better take his training seriously. At that point the “Nightmaker” began a rigorous training program and took off approximately twenty pounds. In addition Arreola began fighting on a regular basis as a way to stay in shape. In 2011 Chris fought five times, winning them all, four by KO. In 2012 Arreola started where he left off in 2011 scoring a first round KO over hard punching Eric Molina (18-2, 14 KO’s).

As things stand now Arreola is back in the title mix and he wants a shot at Wladimir Klitschko. Wladimir also has expressed an interest in fighting Arreola. Chris is quite confident that he will succeed against Wladmir, where he failed against his brother Vitali. The key to success against Wladimir, Arreola believes, is applying constant, unrelenting pressure.

“Dr. Steelhammer” is mandated by the IBF to fight Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) in Germany on July 7. In their first fight in July 2008 Wladimir scored an 11th round KO win over Thompson.

If all goes well Arreola and Klitschko will clash possibly next November in Madison Square Garden. Wladimir is anxious to raise his profile in the United States having fought almost exclusively in Germany over the last several years.
