There’s no blueprint in beating Timothy Bradley

Image: There's no blueprint in beating Timothy BradleyBy Chris Williams: Say what you will about Timothy Bradley not having the same power or hand speed as Manny Pacquiao; there’s still no one that has solved how to beat Bradley. No one has created a blueprint in how to beat him yet, and I can’t see Pacquiao knowing what to do other what he always does by trying to throw more punches than his opponent.

Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales already showed how to beat Pacquiao by throwing sustained combinations after Pacquiao throws his shots, in Morales’ case, and countering everything Pacquiao throws, which is what Marquez showed. With Bradley you can’t point to anything because no one has been effective in trying to beat him. Bradley is just too good at fighting guys both on the inside and the outside. He’s one of those types of fighters that is equally tough at a distance or in close.

Knowing Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, he’ll probably come up with the same tired plan that he had Pacquiao use against Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey by having Pacquiao go after Bradley and look to throw 1000 punches to outwork him. If Pacquiao does that he’s going to take a real beating because Bradley is an excellent counter puncher and will have too many opportunities to land his counter shots each time Pacquiao throws a punch. We saw Pacquiao get countered all night long in his questionable win last November against Marquez. It was so bad that Pacquiao looked like he didn’t know what to do because he getting hammered each time he would try and throw anything. Bradley will take the fight to Pacquiao and look to expose him like Marquez did.

Roach will have Pacquiao doing the old roll under thing and try get him to work on the angles and jump around. But with Pacquiao’s aging legs, he’ll just end up with leg cramps and be forced to plod around the ring. That’ll make it even easier for Bradley to beat him.
