Image: Teon Kennedy vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux possible for Pacquiao-Bradley undercard on 6/9By Dan Ambrose: A fight between WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (9-0, 7 KO’s) and featherweight contender Teon Kennedy (17-1-2, 7 KO’s) is possible for the undercard of the June 9th fight card headlined by WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao vs.Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Steve Kim on his twitter.

Rigondeaux, 31, recently stopped WBA super bantamweight champion Rico Ramos in a two knockdown 6th round TKO win for Rigondeaux. It was a great fight and showed clearly how good the Cuban Rigondeaux is compared to the rest of the field in the super bantamweight division.

It’s curious that the 25-year-old Kennedy might get the call for a fight against Rigondeaux, because Kennedy hasn’t looked good at all in his last two fights, losing to Alejandro Lopez by a 12 round unanimous decision last August, and the fighting to a messy 10 round draw against Christopher Martin in January. On the plus side, Kennedy likes to throw a ton of shots and is a very busy fighter. On the negative side, Kennedy is incredibly easy to hit, as he leaves himself wide open with all the shots he’s throwing, he lacks power and he can be hurt. Rigondeux will have an easy night of it if they put Kennedy in there with him. This could be over very quickly unless Kennedy stops throwing punches and just looks to survive and not make mistakes.

Rigondeaux has been trying to get a fight against WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire but has thus far found no interest from Donaire’s side. Instead of fighting the dangerous Rigondeaux, Donaire is being matched against guys like Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and Christian Mijares, which kind of says it all.
