Abraham has turned his career around with the win and could wind up as the World Boxing Organization super middleweight champion if he can defeat the Groves-Stieglitz winner later this year. Abraham likely won’t fight again until he gets the winner of that fight, and based on how Abraham looked tonight, he’d have a good chance of beating either Stieglitz or Groves. Stieglitz would appear to be the harder of the two choices, because of his tendency to throw a lot of shots. He’d have given Abraham a lot of trouble tonight with his high work rate.

Wilczewski landed a lot of shots, but he couldn’t supply the power needed for him to give Abraham any real trouble. Stieglitz would be a much more difficult test for Abraham because he’s got good power and never stops throwing shots. Groves would have more problems with Abraham because his game is more of movement based style with a lot of feints. Groves barely beat James DeGale, who in turn won a controversial 12 round decision over Wilczewski last year. Abraham would give Groves a lot of problems because he wouldn’t be bothered by his shots like the domestic level opposition Groves has been feasting on since turning pro.

Abraham looked a little better tonight than he had been looking in the Super Six tournament. He seemed to throw a few more punches, but where he really looked good was in his use of the jab. Abraham threw a lot of jabs with good power. He was able to out-jab Wilczewski at times. Abraham would have been much more effective if he had spent more time using his jab and less time just covering up on the ropes.
