Who stole Manny Pacquiao’s cheese?

Image: Who stole Manny Pacquiao’s cheese?By Vann Dunn: Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has moved on to fight WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on May 5th rather than Manny Pacquiao, the prevailing view among Manny’s fan is that Floyd did not agree to fight Pacquiao because he was “scared.”

I am not sure I agree with that considering that Floyd has actually agreed to fight Cotto at a weight in which Pacquiao wanted no part of in trying to secure a fight with Cotto himself. Manny’s fan seem to want us all to believe that Floyd is terrified of losing to Pac while on the other hand wanting us to turn a blind eye to the fact that Pac wants to continue this trend of only fighting guys when the deck is heavily stacked in his favor. When Pacquiao and Cotto first fought, Cotto was a 147 pound welterweight title holder who agreed to fight Pacquiao at 145 lbs. after refusing Manny’s initial request of 143 lbs.

Pacquiao went on to batter, TKO, and defeat Cotto who was clearly drained and weakened by the fight weight. During Team Pacquiao’s recent attempt to lure Cotto into another fight, Pacquiao once again wanted to fight Cotto at a lower weight, but this time Cotto knew better, and publicly stated that he would not fight Pac at a weight that made him feel weak, and would only agree to fight Pac as low as 149 lbs. Pacquiao has already proven that he could beat a weakened Cotto, so why in the world would he refused to fight Cotto in a competitive match? Furthermore, what is ironic about this is that Manny Pacquiao last defeat in the ring was against Eric Morales in 2005, in a fight in which Pac and his fans claim that he lost due to him giving blood and…..you guessed it, made him feel “weak.”

Pacquiao went on to dominate and defeat Morales in two more fights, but the point is that Pac was able to avenge his defeat to Morales by not fighting him, as Pac stated himself in a “weakened state.” So why would Pacquiao not allow Cotto to do the same? If Pacquiao fans can honestly say that Mayweather wanted no part of Pacquiao because he was scared, then what can we say about Pacquiao who only wants to fight Cotto in a weakened state?

Do we dare say that Pacquiao was scared? Pacquiao thought that he found another cheese ball in Cotto by trying to entice Cotto into another lop-sided affair whereby the odds would not be in Cotto’s favor. Cotto cut through the hype and it was Pacquiao who politely said no thanks………maybe it was also Pacquiao who politely said no thanks to Floyd.
