Pacquiao concerned with getting headbutted by Bradley; will be training two extra weeks

By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao is so concerned about getting possibly headbutted in his June 9th fight against fellow Top Rank fighter Timothy Bradley that he plans on training 10 weeks for the fight instead of his usual 8 weeks.
Here’s my take: If Pacquiao is worried about fighting Bradley then why didn’t he open his yap and tell his promoter Bob Arum that he wanted nothing to do with Bradley? Did Pacquiao ever thing about speaking up about it? Well, he should have because if he’s going to be worrying about getting cut to ribbons by an occasional headbutt then he shouldn’t be fighting the guy. Headbutts are part of the game and Bradley unfortunately sometimes connects with a few every now and then. But if Pacquiao is going to be sweating bullets over facing him then he should have spoke up and told Arum he wanted another one of his specials, someone from his stable that’ll be there for him to hit on all night long.
Bradley has some skills and he’s not going to drop to all fours like a dog and take it from the Filipino. He’s going to be hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink in this fight, and that likely means an occasional beauty of a headbutt and a mean elbow. Pacquiao will probably have to taste his own blood in this fight, but come one, he’s making like $25 million. What does he expect for that kind of cash? He’s going to have to taste blood and pain to earn that kind of green. Pacquiao may even get his lips and nose busted in this fight, but that’s part of it when you face Bradley. like I said, Pacquiao’s time to speak up was before the fight was announced. It’s too late to cry about it now because he’s stuck with it and is just going to have to somehow take his pain like a man.

There is no doubt about it! Timothy Bradley’s shinning bald head is the prime bullet against Manny Pacquiao in this fight. The only 3rd defeat of Manny’s boxing career is HEADBUTT against Erik Morales.
I think it’s inevitable their heads will clash. If you factor in Pac’s southpaw stance and his lounging style, with Bardley’s traditional stance, as well as the way his head always seems to do the job his hands can’t at times, it’s highly probable their heads will clash. What amazing to me is, Bradley never gets cut, it’s always his opponent.
juan, manny needs the extra two weeks for cardio because his head has gotten so large its actually hard to carry. hence the leg cramps.

over a decade long career of boxing,manny had never tested with peds.since when did floida got the idea of that testing?it was since mannys loss to eric morales in their first fight.manny was drawn blood days before the fight because his sample was allegedly lost.maany said that it makes him weak during the fight so floida got the idea to demand the olympic style drug testing.how about floid?i wonder if he had never been tested with peds before in his career?
One single headbutt can ruin a fight. Imagine a 1st rd stoppage due to one by either. Those two xtra weeks can save the fight from disaster.
If my head was that large, I’d worry about getting headbutted as well.

This is a good article. Here come the early excuses. Pacquiao is the headbutt master. He always dives in head first, but he knows that that’s not going to work this time.
On fight nite, all I want to see is the Bradley in the picture, the one that I’ve grown to love as a fighter. If Tim is relaxed and rested and attacks that body the way he does so well, Pacquiao, ped’s or not, may get ko’d. Pacquiao isn’t doing Timothy any favors; Tim earned this shot. Pacquiao had hoped that Floyd would fight Tim first. After Marquez refused to be cheated again for peanuts and Kahn offered Peterson more money for a rematch and Cotto fused to drain himself below 150lb. and his refusal to to fight other legitimate welterwights, Ortiz and Berto, he has to fight Bradley because the public will except nothing less. Bradley’s boxing ability, mental toughness, and conditioning puts his on the level of Floyd. Tim is worth more than $5 million; and when he takes what is rightfully his from Pacquiao, he will make atleast $50 million over the next 2 yrs. because many people want to see Floyd dethroned. That fight alone will bring him $30 millon, 15 or 20 if it’s Cotto if Cotto beats Floyd. Why? Because Mayweather/Bradley = Ali/Fraser, public belief that finally someones going to shut Mayweather big mouth.

You call this an article. All the details were great until you start giving your irrelevant opinion. So he’s cautious for a headbutt? I had the same concern in mind but life goes on. To choose a different opponent that you can play dummy with because of fear of a headbutt has to be the most amateurish advice you can give. I’m glad Pacquiao is aware and putting in the extra time, it shows me he’s serious about the fight.

Extra two weeks. The boy never trained for more than eight weeks unless he’s getting ready to loose for more than he bargain for. Well it’ll be an interesting turn coz if that is the case then retirement is truly in the picture.

Seems to me in the Marq-Pac 2 fight I counted 3 times that there heads clashed. One time it was clearly intentional by Manny. So Manny, pls STFU! Pacquiao is wise to train harder. Bradley’s a good fighter and will show a different look to Pacquaio. Anyone who thinks Bradley is easy is mistaken.
