Froch: My next fight will be against Bute in the UK

By Scott Gilfoid: It looks like former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is kind confident that he’ll be able to get IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute to agree to fight him in Nottingham, England rather than Montreal, Canada for their first of what could be two fights.
Why would Bute want to fight the challenger Froch in his UK home city of Nottingham? I’ll tell you why: Bute knows he can whip Froch no matter where the fight takes place, and he just wants to get the fight, the payday, the notoriety that comes with it, and most of all a fight against the No.1 talent in the super middleweight division Andre Ward.
I don’t fault Bute for being open to fighting Froch in Nottingham, but I must say a win over Froch probably won’t be good enough to get a fight with Ward. It’s going to probably take more than that I’m afraid. Froch has already been exposed by Andre Dirrell, Mikkel Kessler and Ward.
The only thing Bute will be doing by fighting Froch is putting him out of his misery. Froch’s already been softened up in the Dirrell, Kessler and Ward fights, and the only thing Bute can do is just finish off what’s left of the Brit.
The Froch-Bute fight still likely won’t be televised by Showtime in the United States, because they want a quality opponent from Bute for a change and facing Froch doesn’t count because he was beaten badly in his last fight. That’s why I think it’s going to probably require for Bute to step it up a level and challenge Dirrell or his talented brother Anthony Dirrell to a fight and prove that he can beat one of them before Bute can get a fight against Ward.

@Boo…let’s say, the last time i pay 100$ for a Lucian Bute fight i was at the top end of the Bell Center, so take a look at the price range ring side and you will see, they make ways much more than 2 millions for a fight !!!
How much can a the ticket cost for such a fight if the fight would be in Canada ? Say 100$ ! The max that Bute can bring is 20000 people (max capacity of the arena). Thus the ticket sells might bring 2 mil $. They must find the television to air it and to bring the extra money !

Both Bute and Froch won controversial fights in the past (see Bute – Andrade 1 and Froch – Dirrel).
In their cases both of them are susceptible to win at home ! So, what remains as a solution … maybe US or Finland ! US don’t seem to desire such a fight ! Maybe SHO and HBO are right ! Let’s think … in your country will the people wish pay for two foreigns fight … especially if they are regarder as weaker compared to your national fighters ?
For this fight there is need for new, better management …. or just lower the fighters payment !
no way bute fights outside of canada, and froch cant sell a fight unless its in england, this fight is dead.
Froch not the best fighter in the world but he’s up for a challenge whether or not its High risk that is what boxing is about.

As for some complaints in the past I think they should be forgotten yeah he complained he should of won some fights but atleast he’s willing to put his career on the line time after time.

@Boo…and i totaly agree with the neutral judges and refere, let’s bring 3 judges and 1 refere from country who are not from Canada, UK or US for this fight, let’s have something like 3 Mexican or 3 Japanese…anything but people from Canada, Uk or USA…so that ways, if the fight is present in Canada or in the UK or even in the US nobody will be able to complain again local robery…and let’s the best men win…Let’s go Carl Froch !!! (Yes, who say i must cheer for the Canadian fighter…i saw the fight between Jean Pascal and Carl Froch in England, and i was there also in Helsinki for the fight of Froch again Abraham, so i can have Froch as favorite fighter even if i am a Canadian from Montreal…i am just a boxing fan !!!)
@Boo…excellent comment, as a part of answer, when the Montreal Canadien play at Bell center, it’s estimed they make 5 millions by game they played there…so if you add, the Canadian and UK Brodcasting money, and Showtime money (if they present the fight) add the publicity revenue and the money comming from novelty, well, i can easily see Bute making 3 millions and Froch making 2 millions for this fight…ho ??? and by the ways, they could make the semi final in a fight between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson, that would be a neutral venue, cause i also have Amir Khan winning the first fight (but i agree it was a close one)…or even better, Jean Pascal vs Nathan Cleverly…and both winner fight the other winner in the next program (amazing how we can make good boxing between Commonwelth Nation, lol)

If Bute does not deserve a shot at Ward after he beat Froch, then who the hell does?
Dirrel? Who cares about Dirrel! He barely makes it in the top 10 of SMW rating. Dirrel does not deserve a shot a Bute. The only top tier he beat was by disqualification (Abraham). No, but really be serious, who did he beat worth of mention? Bute has beaten 3 of top 10 rating from Ring magazine (Bika, Magee and Johnson).
Hey Scott, what happened to Bute being afraid to fight outside Montreal? And that he would never travel to England.
You also said that Froch should never fight in Montreal because he will likely be robbed. Now that the fight will be in England you say that Bute will win anyways…where is your rationale

This should send a huge message to everyone who keep saying that “Bute is afraid to fight outside Montreal”. Or those that say that Bute fights in Montreal and has judges on his side or that the crowd influences the scoring….It is all BS and Ward should follow the example and travel to other places to fight…Because if you do not, then Bute will still come to Oakland…

The fight Bute-Froch was important for IBF, so the IBF jumped at the occasion to have this fight for IBF belt. Than I wonder would this make SHO air the fight ?
What money might they be fighting for ? I read rumors that it is about 5mil$ for both fighters… I suppose it is 3mil$ for Bute and 2mil$ for Froch… I wonder can they make that much money without SHO ? Where can such a sum be raised ? In Canada ? in UK or in Romania ? I don’t even think that Bute received his money for the Mendy fight yet ! So, a fight in Romania on a stadium has a big question mark ! I knew this fight was going to happen all along as I spoke to Lucian. I didn’t want to say anything till the news was out… but Lucian is VERY VERY Hungry for this fight and he’s going to train like a beast! This is going to be a VERY good fight! After this he will probably take on one more A level fighter, and fight Ward. In the mean time Ward will fight once…

Bute is the champ so he does not need to step up a level and challenge the Dirrell brothers…he’ll wate any of them, no doubt about it. The real test for Bute is A. Ward but this fight will not sell because of the styles of these 2 boxers.
The only one softened up in the froch v dirrell fight was dirrell and froch v Kessler was a draw of ever I see one so go play with yourself

Yes froch lost to ward and kessler (awesome fight by the way) but he beat dirrell. So how exactly has dirrell helped soften him up?? He hit and ran all night long.
