Image: Bradley: I'm going to hurt Pacquiao; this isn't his brother-in-law he's fightingBy Chris Williams: WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KO’s) isn’t coming into his June 9th fight against Manny Pacquiao to mess around and touch gloves with him all night long in a glorified sparring session like the one Pacquiao had with the over-the-hill 40-year-old Shane Mosley. That fight was a laughable disgrace, and even worse than Pacquiao’s 12 round sparring session against Joshua Clottey in 2010.

Bradley says he intends on hurting Pacquiao in this fight, saying to ESPN “I touch gloves in the center of the ring when the fight begins. I don’t touch gloves during the bout. It’s not going to be any, ‘brother-in-law’ in there. I’m here to win, not coming for a paycheck…I’m going to hurt him, I gotta hurt him. Absolutely, I have to hurt this guy, and get respect from Pacquiao early…I’m going to be victorious.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Bradley exactly has to go out and make the Filipino star feel pain in this fight and get to him early and often. But Bradley can’t stop making Pacquiao feel pain in the early stages, because Pacquiao will keep coming forward all night long looking to slug.

The only time Pacquiao slows down is when he starts bleeding around the eyes. When that happens, he slows down big time and starts dabbing at his cuts looking to check the blood. Bradley may get Pacquiao bleeding early in this fight if he can get to him with some big shots and some accidental headbutts. You never like to see a guy cut from a headbutt, but it’s part of the game, so you can’t avoid things like that. If Pacquiao gets slicked up, then Bradley will have a great chance to pull off the upset. Even without Pacquiao bleeding, he’ll still have a lot of problems with Bradley because Pacquiao is starting to age and slow down.
