Image: A Munich Disaster: Klitschko Vs Chisora Vs Haye Vs BoenteBy James Hardiman (Chaos J): Last night in Munich, boxing fans witnessed alot of tension, alot of swearing, death threats, some spitting and a big brawl. Oh and there was also a boxing match!

After Friday nights weigh-in madness, Vitali Klitschko and Dereck Chisora finally got it on in the ring and there was already a show on hand before the first bell went as Vitali was berated by the ever popular Chisora on entering the ring. The fun didn’t stop there as the lovable Del-Boy disgracefully spat at younger brother, IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO, Ring Magazine world champion Wladamir Klitschko. First a slap and then a spit? Sounds like the calling card of a feral ghetto mum in a domestic street fight. Anyway, Wladamir didn’t look the least bit amused and if looks could kill, Chisora would have been carried out of the stadium in a coffin.

So the fight started and it seems that many people watched a completely different fight to the one I saw. Chisora appeared to be doing really well to the untrained eye, constantly coming towards Vitali and forcing him onto the back foot but what else did he really offer? I mean yes, Vitali looked his age and did look out of breath but that is because he fought a different fight. He has never had to walk around a fighter like that, usually having the control of the center of the ring and at the age of 40, was always going to be huffing and puffing in the later rounds but does this mean Chisora fought a great fight? Credit to him, he did half of what he said he was going to do and apply the pressure but in my opinion, not much more. I can only recall three or four punches that actually connected sweetly onto Vitali’s chin and they had no effect whatsoever. He went to the body alot but no real joy there, the rest of the fight on Chisora’s part was wild swinging and head bobbing. Vitali, in the first two or three rounds was landing chopping right crosses to the top of Chisora’s head almost at will. Chisora won a couple of the mid to late rounds on work rate alone as Vitali wasn’t throwing much back but that says it all, he never at any stage of the fight had Vitali in trouble. Chisora himself started to tire in the last 3 rounds and other then receiving a little tag here and there, Vitali was in complete control until the final bell. It was a more laboured and workman like performance from Klitschko, having to move alot more then he’s used to and he was definately showing signs of slowing down but other than that, it was another reasonably easy victory for him but Chisora can take a little from the fight knowing he gave Vitali a better go then most before him.

The fun doesn’t stop there! After the final bell, Vitali went over to congratulate Chisora only to be greeted with hostility prompting Wladamir to jump onto the scene chomping at the bit. He looked like he wanted to give Del-Boy a deserved right cross to his ignorant head but somehow managed to control himself and got pulled away with no incident. Boxnation clown Steve Bunce: ”Why does Wladamir have to get involved?”. Well Steve, being spat on by a barbaric street thug might have a little something to do with it although im no detective mate. Frank Warren, a man I have lost alot of respect for chimed in with calls of a rematch. Sorry but what exactly happened in there that makes Chisora deserved of a rematch? It didn’t finish as a draw, there was no scoring controversy and no unfortunate circumstances (being stopped due to an accidental clash of heads for example). Chisora was soundly beaten and just like our other little bundle of joy David Haye, has absolutely no case for a rematch with a Klitschko.

If you happened to be stuck in traffic on your way home to watch the fight and turned on Boxnation to see the fight had ended, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Chisora had put in an out of this world performance and deserved a win the way the analysts were carrying on. Again, we were treated to the random musings of Steve Bunce, who surely is atleast joint with Dirrell lover boy as the Biggest idiot in the world of Boxing. His voice could quite literally peel the enamel from your teeth and after every sentence, does some weird shudder movement like someone has pulled back his shirt collar and dropped a ferret down there. Anyway, if you caught what he had to say, you’d think Chisora was a class act in there. He did very well to go the distance, he wasn’t hurt to be fair and he did bring the fight to Klitschko but that was all, Nothing special and was soundly beaten. David Haye, who was ejected from ringside by a clearly infuriated Bernd Boente, was also on the panel but spent most of his evening trying to talk his way into a fight with Vitali whilst Jim Rosenthal just basically stood there agreeing with everything Bunce and Haye said.

The real slap and tickle came at the post fight press conference. Chisora, taking over the mic from an angry Boente told how he was going to give Haye two slaps and then out of nowhere, David Haye pops up from the back like a curious meerkat and jumps into the conversation. I cant be bothered to go into what was said, most would of seen the video’s by now and it was basically just useless trash talk. After the initial shouting match, Chisora, who has the personality of a grey sock, jumps out of his chair and storms up to Haye demanding Haye says something to his face which Haye humorously does and this starts a mass brawl involving a glass bottle, blood and threats of Haye being shot. All the while, Vitali Klitschko looks on visibly enjoying these two morons going hammer and tongs at eachother. It’s almost like they was trying to promote a big money fight with eachother! Surely not? Us Brits must all feel so proud to have these two role models and all round nice guys representing us in the sport. Just goes to show you the state this country is in when they are the best we can come up with. I just hope Fury and Price can come up trumps and restore a bit of pride and dignity because Chisora and Haye showed us up over there last night.

In a nutshell: Vitali won, Chisora’s an idiot, So is Haye, Wladamir wants to kill Chisora, Vitali seems to be in decline, Boente’s fed up, Warren’s ashamed of his fighter, Haye and Chisora did a nice promo job, the press had a field day, ‘Mr Talented’ got another knock out prediction wrong and Heavyweight Boxing is dragged further into the mud. Except this time, I cant see how anyone can blame a Klitschko for once.
