Will Chisora run from Vitali like Haye did against Wladimir?

Image: Will Chisora run from Vitali like Haye did against Wladimir?By Scott Gilfoid: Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) looked to be purposely holding back during Monday’s press conference with Britain’s Derreck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) in promoting his February 18th fight in Germany. Chisora was really throwing down the insults during the conference saying how Vitali and his brother were bad for boxing.

As far as I can tell, Vitali only got testy once in the entire meeting and that was when Chisora said that Vitali’s brother IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko had chickened out on the two occasions they had attempted to put a fight together.

What actually happened was Wladimir suffered an abdominal tear and he reinjured it when he attempted to put a fight together with Chisora on a second occasion. Vitali told Chisora that Wladimir is the best fighter in the world and would easily beat him, which kind of goes without saying.

This fight is a mismatch of epic proportions. Chisora was already exposed last year by 22-year-old Tyson Fury in a lopsided 12 round decision and that loss should have been enough for Chisora to be weeded out for a title fight against Vitali Klitschko. Heck, Chisora wasn’t even ranked in the top 15 after he suffered yet another loss recently to Robert Helenius.

Vitali didn’t care. His thing was that Chisora had given the limited Helenius trouble and he wanted to shut Chisora’s yap for all the trash talking he had done about Wladimir during the two failed attempts at a fight. Vitali will definitely achieve his goal of making a mess out of Chisora next month unless Chisora runs like his fellow countryman. Gosh, I sure hope not. My thoughts are that initially Chisora will actually try and fight Vitali in the first round, but after he tastes some of his power, Chisora will get that Haye impulse and start running to save his hide. Something about tasting the power from the Klitsckos gets fighters thinking survival, and that’s how I see Chisora. Oh, it’s going to look bad Chisora in full gallop but what you can you say? Haye did it against Vitali’s brother Wladimir, so if it’s good enough for Haye then why not Chisora?
