Image: Vitali and Chisora acting like good buddies, hanging all over each other at press conferenceBy Scott Gilfoid: I don’t like the way that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) and Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) were hanging all over each other before and during this week’s press conference in London.

It just wasn’t right to see that kind of thing going on. I thought I was watching a couple of good buddies hanging out with their arms each other, embracing and what not. Yuck! They weren’t just pawing each other during picture-taking, they were just holding each other like mad even when there wasn’t any pictures. All that pawing of each other looked wrong.

These guys are supposed to be hating each other and drumming up excitement for the gall darn fight and here they are putting arms around shoulders and standing close. For one second I thought Vitali was going to initiate kiss on the lips of Chisora. Sheesh! What happened to Vitali that used to exist?

I’d much rather see David Haye up there talking trash a mile a minute and refusing to shake hands than watching Chisora and Vitali coming across as buddies. They need to see the big picture here. This kind of thing isn’t going to interest fans in wanting to see their fight because some people might get the wrong impression that Chisora is Vitali’s friend and he’ll take it easy on him for 12 rounds of sparring rather than be looking to take his head off.

If they can’t get generate real animosity for each other, then they can at least fake it. Let’s get the Stanislavski method acting going for this bout. They need to remember someone they hate and then put that emotion to work for each other so this fight at least seems believable. The way they were carrying on at the press conference, I was expecting one of them to break out the beer and start drinking telling stories.

If I’m Vitali, I’d go home and watch some of Haye’s pre-fight trash talking that he did for Wladimir Klitschko, and then just copy what he did to make people buy into the Chisora fight. Right now I just don’t believe in these guys as far as this being a real fight with two guys that want to take each other apart.
