Rigondeaux flattened Ramos with a left hand to the midsection in the 6th round. The fight was then halted at 1:29 of the round.

Ramos couldn’t get anything going in the fight, and was dropped in the 1st round from a left to the head by Rigondeaux.

In the following rounds, Ramos would try to land right hands but he’d pay for it each time by getting hit with counter left hands to the head and body from Rigondeaux.

After a while, Ramos began to fight timidly knowing that he’d get hit with Rigondeaux’s counter shots each time he’d try to land anything. The crowd hated the lack of action. They may not have been familiar with Rigondeauxs’s counter punching style of fighting. He’s not great at leading but he is at taking advantage of his opponent after they throw their own shots. Rigondeax was a lot faster Ramos and that was also a factor in this fight.

After the fight, Rigondeaux mentioned wanting to fight Nonito Donaire next. It sounds nice but it’s not likely to happen ever. Donaire’s promoter Bob Arum isn’t eager to put Donaire in with the counter punching southpaw Rigondeaux and Donaire himself hasn’t seemed excited about facing him either. He’s better off facing guys like Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and Omar Narvaez rather than Rigondeaux, who might actually beat him.

In other action on the card:
Matthew Villanueva TKO 7 Michael Ruiz Jr.
Joel Diaz TKO 7 Guy Robb
Javier Molina UD 6 Alberto Herrera
Razvan Cojanu UD 4 Rodney Hernandez
