Lopez-Salido: Juanma will have to box Salido this time if he wants to win
By Dan Ambrose: If Juan Manuel Lopez (31-1, 28 KO’s) is smart he won’t even attempt to slug with WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (37-11-2, 25 KO’s) in their rematch on March 10th because Lopez doesn’t have the tools to beat Salido and will only get knocked out again like last time the two fighters went at it in April of last year.
But the difference here is that Salido could actually fight and take a shot and that meant that Lopez was going to have to figure out another option if he wanted to win. He didn’t and continued to stupidly try to punch it out with Salido, even after Lopez was hit with two jarring right hands in the 6th.
In the 7th, Lopez tried to fight even harder and ate even more right hands. The fight ended in the 8th with Salido swatting Lopez with right hands in the corner and the referee decided that Lopez had enough and stopped the fight.
Lopez has fought once since the Salido loss, beating Mike Oliver by a 2nd round TKO last October. Lopez was pretty much the same fighter that Salido beat, although he looked slightly fat. He didn’t even try to box Oliver to try some new things that he might need later.

lopez is good, salido is better, hes old school he know how to break you down ,i think lopez should get out of this fight.find a young guy to , if you want to stay in boxing, get the right fights at the right time you just dont get in the ring with anybody, think life when boxing is over.o well
Juanma by KO. Salido dis good but we all know it wasnt the best night for Juanma. In P.R HE WILL AVENGE THIS LOSSS EASILY. Juanma physical conditions is way to different this time, they use to call him hammer because of the power of his fists…If Salido can stanf Juanmas power in this next fight , I will take may hat for him. But man just wait, you will see Juanmas ppower this time.. Spoken w varous coaches and they agree nobody, I repeat nobody can stant Juanmas punches(given he is in good conditioning)..This means that Salido as Mexican will stand in front of him…as Ponce De Leon how hard does he hit./.
you are right the fight should be in mexico lopez got ko in PR .o well ,he wil get ko again
Lopez is just gonna want to take it to the judges no way can he ko salido after all it is top rank(fixed fights) and Lopez is better known by the casual fans if it goes the distance its gonna be another robbery like the Marquez one come on he lost and the fight still has to be in puerto rico that goes to show you that when your a true boxer you don’t make excuses and you fight anywhere Salido might not be the best but hes a true warrior for taking the fight in PR.
jaunma has poor stamina, and dont think he can ko salido. same result again, good fight with salido stopping jaunma in the later rounds
lopez is going to get ko again,no chin
juanma has poor stamina and a weak chin,if salido were really a hard puncher with that punch that was landed on his chin when he went down he wouldn’t have gotten up,salido is an average puncher not great
Is going to be a good Fight.
catchweight fraud =you say that you got to have guts to go to P.R. but i think Juamna is the one with guts to face a guy that Ko him.
Fight should be in Mexico.
@ Edgar I alaways gave Gamboa the edge . He is far more athletic, than Lopez
Lopez has very poor footwork like Cotto. So Salido should win easily.
The first fight was amazing. It takes guts to go back to puerto rico and fight lopez. Salido did have a horrible fight his last time in the ring. lets go salido.
Do you remember when everybody used to say that Juan Ma was better than Gamboa…bla, bla, bla….
Whatever the outcome its going to be a great fight again.
If an unknown filipino fighter was able to put salido twice on the canvas, then probably lopez, who is a well known fighter should be able to KO salido. But then again, after watching the brutal TKO of salido over lopez, it raises a lot of question.
