Image: Khan's various excuses for losing to PetersonBy William Mackay: I’ve heard so many excuses from Amir Khan and his promoter Richard Schaefer about Khan’s loss to Lamont Peterson that I’m having a hard time keeping track of them all. Khan is just tossing things around hoping something will create doubt like a defense lawyer so he can get his titles back the easy way from the IBF and WBA by having them change his loss to a no-contest.

Here are some of the excuses Khan has used for his loss to Peterson:

• Peterson headbutting
• The referee
• The judges
• Peterson ducking too low
• Mystery man in the hat

Isn’t that a bit much? It just seems like Khan is using on thing after another in desperate attempt to get the fight overturned. Just based on all of those lame excuses from Khan, I couldn’t vote to overturn his decision loss if I was working for the IBF or WBA. That’s just too many excuses. Anytime you have someone putting together a stream of excuses for a mistake you know that you’ve got a person that can’t take responsibility for what they screwed up. I’m just surprised Khan didn’t use one of the lame excuse that politicians use when they say “Mistakes were made” but without saying “I made a mistake.” Khan fought poorly in that fight with his running, shoving, pulling down on Peterson’s head and his inability to stand his ground when it game to any kind of in fighting. And the way he would grab Peterson’s head, pull down it and look at the referee as if he was the innocent one instead of the guy that fouling like crazy.

In my view, Khan doesn’t deserve to have his decision loss overturned. I don’t care if some mystery man with a hat sat near one of the judge; it still doesn’t change a thing in that fight. Khan still couldn’t handle the pressure and used fouling to try and escape.
