This will be another home fight for the 28-year-old Lopez despite the fact that he was badly beaten and stopped in the 8th round last time he fought the 31-year-old Salido last year in April 2011.

The reason why the rematch is taking place in Lopez’s home country is because he’s able to pack in a lot of fans and make more money. I would be hesitant for Salido to accept a fight in that location due to the high possibility of a controversial decision. However, Lopez will likely fall apart under the pounding of Salido long before the 12th, so the judges and the venue won’t be a factor in the fight.

The only way it could be a problem for Salido is if they bring in one of those referees that run interference and get in the way of the action, but I can’t see that happening. Salido is going to be all over Lopez from the start of the fight and is going to pressure him and force Lopez to work harder than he’s accustomed to.

Lopez had been knocking out all of his opponents in the early rounds before he met up with Salido. I blame that mostly on his promoter. He should have been fighting guys that have a chin and can actually fight instead of the weak opponents that were tossed into the ring with him fight after fight.

I had a feeling something was wrong when they finally put a decent B level fighter Rogers Mtagwa in with Lopez in 2009, and Lopez was staggering all around the ring in the 11th and 12th rounds and was very fortunate to have won the fight.
