Povetkin, 32, has shown little interest in facing the Klitschkos and now that he’s the World Boxing Association champion, it’s even more disappointing that he’s not interested in facing one of them. However, the 27-year-old Huck is more than ready to take on either one of the Kltischkos and is just looking for the chance to get in the ring with them and prove himself.

Huck wants Vitali first and if he can somehow get past Povetkin, he’ll likely get that fight as long as Vitali wins his next bout against Dereck Chisora next month on February 18th in Munich, Germany. Vitali should get through that fight with flying colors and we could see Huck-Vitali in late 2012 provided that Vitali isn’t tied down still with the David Haye fight. Vitali hopes to face the 31-year-old Haye in the summer, and that will give Vitali enough time to squeeze in another fight at the end of the year against Huck.

Povetkin will be a tough opponent for Huck, as this will be the first time that Huck will have fought at heavyweight. Normally, cruiserweights that move up to the heavyweight division take some step fights before looking to get a title shot, but not Huck. He’s straight into a title fight against Povetkin with zero experience at the heavyweight level. Huck may not need it, though, because Povetkin is more of a paper champion than someone dangerous like the Klitschkos or Haye. Povetkin doesn’t have a lot of power and used to – before trainer Teddy Atlas took over – throw a lot of punches in his fights. Povetkin now looks to outbox his opponents and he doesn’t look very good now.
