The good news for Cotto is he’s still in the running for Pacquiao’s fight, but the bad news is that there’s a strong possibility he won’t get the fight. What does Cotto do then? He’s already beaten two of Arum’s fighters – Yuri Foreman and Antonio Margarito in the past couple of years and there’s no one else for Cotto to fight in the Top Rank stable unless he wants to fight WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

That’s not the big money opponent that Cotto is looking for. He wants a big name where he won’t be the only drawing in a pay per view fight. This is why the delay in Pacquiao’s decision is coming at a really bad time for Cotto, because Mayweather is supposed to announce his decision next week as to who he’ll be facing next.

Cotto could have been negotiating with him if he wasn’t being strung along with three other contenders for the Pacquiao fight. Somehow it’s kind of demeaning to have to sit and wait with three other guys like it’s a competition rather than just having the fight setup in a straight forward manner. Cotto might be better off telling Arum to forget it, and let him know to contact him when there’s not some kind of time-wasting selection process going on. Cotto could have had the Mayweather fight already lined up by now if he wasn’t just being left to hang and wait on Pacquiao and Arum. That’s not right.
