Image: Chisora: Everybody is tired of Vitali and his brother WladimirBy Scott Gilfoid: Bottom ranked challenger Derek Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s), who WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) found in the 2nd tier, believes he’s going to KO Vitali next month on February 18th and bring in new blood. It’s pretty laughable if you ask me.

Here’s what Chisora said as quoted by AP “Everybody’s tired of you and your brother. There’s no excitement in the ring. It’s time for a new king. People want relief in boxing. Him and his brother have killed the sport I love.”

Let me break this down from the code that Chisora is using. He’s basically saying that Vitali and Wladimir are so damn good that they’re making it boring because of their domination of the overmatched fodder like him in the heavyweight division. So because the Klitschkos are so good, they need to go for there to be more competitive matches.

It’s like in the 1975 movie “Rollerball” starring James Caan playing the character “Jonathan E.” He becomes so good that he becomes bigger than the game itself so they try to force him to retire. He wants nothing of it and is the last man standing in a no rules match that was intended to finish him. Vitali and his brother Wladimir are simply too good for the sport and there a lot of fighters and people who want them out.

Like in the movie Rollerball, the Klitschkos aren’t going to go just retire to make jealous people happy. A future where Chisora is one of the heavyweight champions is a bleak one in my view. He’s short, fat, slow, throws few punches, and tends to foul at times. He’s someone that will last about 15 minutes as a heavyweight champion before someone whips him.

Chisora is getting this fight against Vitali on the back of a loss to Robert Helenius where he fought well at times but still lost. He would have been in deep, deep trouble had Helenius not broken his right hand in the 2nd round. That’s Helenius best weapon and without it, he was forced to fight mostly with his left while slapping with his broken right hand. No way would Chisora beat Helenius with two good hands. I’d much rather see Vitali vs. Helenius rather than the guy he beat.
