Image: Brook-Hatton: The only problem Kell will have with Hatton is trying to figure out which round to stop himBy Scott Gilfoid: Another fight for unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (26-0, 18 KO’s), another mismatch, this time against 30-year-old Matthew Hatton (42-5-2, 16 KO’s) on March 17th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK. Hatton will plenty of opportunities to hit Brook. After all, the guys got those short alligator arms that makes it necessary for him to get really close to land his punches. Hatton can land something right in his puss but the guy can’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag unfortunately.

The only real interesting thing about this fight is which round Brook will be knocking Hatton out in, because he has no chance in this fight. I don’t blame Hatton for this mismatch, because he’s just trying his best but I do blame Brook.

That guys has been on training wheels for eight years now and he’s still fighting fodder. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has nothing on Brook. Chavez Jr. is way ahead of Brook despite both of them having fought eight years as a pro.

Why Brook can’t fight better guys than Hatton, I just don’t know. I think Hatton will give it his best shot in this fight, but he’s got nothing to fight back with. Hatton has looked beyond average in his last couple of fights against Saul Alvarez and Andrei Abramenka, and I don’t expect Hatton to suddenly grow talent.

Brook can punch good when he’s got a sitting duck and Hatton is the perfect duck for him to tee off on. It’ll be like playing tee ball. Hatton really doesn’t have a prayer. I just hope that maybe Ricky Hatton is teaching Matthew some defensive tricks because he’s going to need them badly in this fight.

He’s not going to be able to match Brook in the power department and isn’t fast enough to outbox him. At best, all I can see from Hatton is to just take shots like he did in his losing effort against Saul Alvarez last year.

Afterwards they’ll talk about how much heart Hatton has got and all that blather, while Brook will have his hand raised and look around with a sense satisfaction, as if he just cured cancer or something instead of beaten another out of his class fighter. I can’t wait until the day Brook fights his 1st quality opponent. I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen though.
