Sergio Martinez shows his frustration

McKenna (McJack): The Ring middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KO’s) has become increasingly frustrated in his inability to land a big money fight against World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) who has been calling out for quite some time. Recently in his frustration he referred to the 8 division and pound for pound champion as a fake.
In Haye’s case it worked extraordinarily well because he will more than likely land another title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Vitlai Klitschko next summer.
In Sergio’s case he is in the unfortunate position of fighting in a division where there are no super stars. In order for him to land big money fight he has to lure one of the two superstars into the ring with him. Thus far his attempts at landing a fight with Pacquiao have landed on deaf ears. “Pacman” has already stepped up in class from 108 pounds to where he fights presently at around 145 pounds. It is understandable that at 5’6” he does not want to step up yet again to fight a full fledged middleweight.
Recently Martinez has turned his sights on the other super star in boxing, Undefeated WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26 KO’s). It is highly questionable as to whether Martinez will be any more successful at landing a fight with Mayweather as he was with Pacquiao.
The reality is that Sergio is lacking in name recognition and both Pacquiao and Mayweather at this stage of their careers are looking to go up against fighters who can draw huge Pay Per View (PPV) numbers. That is why Manny finally settled on a way over the hill Shane Mosley last May. It was a fight that neither Pacquiao or his trainer Freddie Roach wanted to take. But just as in any other business, money trumps all else. Mosley had a huge fan base and by fight night Top Rank CEO Bob Arum was able to work his magic and make the masses of people think Shane had a real chance. The Pacquiao – Mosley fight drew 1.3 million PPV buys.

Paquiao beat antonio margarito at 150lbs, why not sergio martinez at 150lbs? is there something wrong?
I wish Ward will call out Martinez and let us see what would be his reaction. Martinez is one of the cowards is boxing. He should call out in his own size not a smaller boxer. If Nonito was the one P4P#1 probably he will call him out to move north to fight him. lol

Martinez is really superwelter fighting @ middlewight becuse nobody wanted to fight him. He fights a bigger guy in every fight. I used to be a fan of pac but man he needs to step it up and stop fighting bums.

Rightly so, but there is a problem… he is old. He don’t have the time to duplicate what Pac did. That’s why Sergs is taking the easy route.
It’s so sad that everything we voiced out or commented in this site about Sergio Martinez will be of no affect on him because this boxer does not speak or understand English. sergio MARTINEZ it’s not what people think he is : he struggled with cintron on a draw and i lost to margarito badly , there is no point for the making of pacquio or mayweather fights. these guy it’s a nobody with a powerful hook. lets see the reality: i will be happy to see these guy fight someone like ortiz or berto or kirkland, angulo ,lara,ishida , williams or margarito again; i cant see these guy fighting the three top welterweight in cotto , pacquiao mayweather.

sergio want a big money
Manny is obviously disinterested in boxing now, politics and his music career are both far more important to him. Boxing just gives him the cash to enjoy life. If I was him I would stick to easybeats such as Ortiz, Rios, Jones and Bradley. He will still make 20 million a pop and even though he is totally disinterested in boxing he will make light work of that group.
Martinez is obviously a very good fighter along with Floyd and Manny it is just hard to match them up thats all.

Manny should fight Martinez at 150 lbs provided that is the weight on the day of the fight. That is fair to everybody. Otherwise if one of the fighters comes in at 170lbs on the day then that should have been the agreed stipulated weight not 150lbs.

Manny & Floyd fight 2 divisions below Martinez. This is biggest kid in the playground tactics. If Martinez is all that he claims to be, he should move up 1 division and fight Froch. It’s amuch fairer fight.

People forget that Manny beat Margarito who had beaten Sergio long time ago. Sergio should avoid Manny or will be humiliated. He should focus on Floyd, whom he can beat.
