And before the tourney, Froch was within seconds of losing to Jermain Taylor when Froch was able to score a 12th round knockout win.

Counting that fight, Froch very well could be coming into his fight with WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward this weekend having lost three out of his last five fights. Even if you ignore the Taylor fight, Froch really should have a Super Six record of two wins and two losses.

Froch was beaten by Kessler, and given credit for a win over Dirrell that should have been a lopsided loss. Froch fought that fight in front of his home crowd in Nottingham, England. The only bouts where Froch has looked good was against Johnson and Abraham, two slow fighters with one pace.

On Saturday night Froch is facing a perfect fighter in Ward. This is a nightmarish opponent for Froch, as Ward has got better speed, better boxing skills, better footwork, better jab and a lot better defense. The only thing that Froch has that Ward doesn’t is a willingness to get hit in the head a lot in order to throw his own shots.

That’s not something to be proud of. Froch doesn’t have much choice but to be willing to take shots because he doesn’t have the speed to beat the better fighters like Ward, Dirrell, Kessler and Lucian Bute. He’s got to take shots and try and get one in for every four that he gets hit with.

I wish I could say that Froch will do well on Saturday. He won’t do well. He’s going to lose every round of the fight against Ward. I can’t see Froch winning one round. I wish I could. He’s like someone going into a finals exam without a clue. Not only is Froch going to fail the exam, but he’s going to get every question wrong. He simply doesn’t have a clue. This is going to be one of those old fashioned backside whippings.

After he loses, Froch will effectively be drummed out of the Super Six tournament, and Ward will be crowned the champion and given the much coveted Super Six trophy.
