While Hopkins liked Froch for what he described as his backward/unorthodox style of fighting, he felt that won’t be enough for him to get the win over a skilled technician like Ward.

Froch said to Sky Sports News “Andre Ward has a lot more ammunition to work with than Carl Froch because he has a lot more ability than Carl Froch. Froch has something I’m not going to say is weird but unorthodox about the way he fights and the way his style I’ve seen in his last couple of fights. I think Andre Ward has a lot more to win with. That’s why he will win. And I believe when that fight comes he will win. I’m not saying a knockout, but I think he will definitely show he’s in a different class than a Froch. So I’m picking Ward to win that fight.”

Hopkins raises some good points about Ward having more ammunition. He does have the better hand speed, the better outside game and the better inside game compared to Froch. The power between the two is close enough to where neither fighter has much of an advantage in this category. But what does stand out is the speed different for Ward, and his ability to fight at a very high level on the inside and the outside.

Ward can pick and choose which area he wants to beat Froch in tonight and you can’t say the same for Froch. He’s got to stay away from trying to battle Ward on the inside, because he can’t win that fight. His arms are too long and he lacks the tools to fight in this manner. Froch may try to fight Ward on the inside anyway just to try and show him that he can compete with him there, but I think he’ll lose badly unless he adapts and makes changes during the course of the fight.
