The hand was x-rayed but all that was found was a hairline fracture which should heal without the need of a cast or surgery. Helenius defeated Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) by a 12 round split decision last Saturday in Helsinki, Finland. Helenius won by the scores 115-113, 115-113, 113-115.

The decision has created a lot of anger around the boxing world because Helenius looked poor in that fight, and was getting really drilled and outworked by Chisora in virtually every round of the fight.

Helenius came into the fight heavily hyped and respected for his punching power. But surprisingly, Chisora was the much bigger puncher in the fight and an out-landed Helenius in power shots. It’s unclear what the judges were looking at in scoring the fight, because even the 115-113 score that went to Chisora seemed to be much too close given how dominant Chisora was in the fight.

It was a pretty one-sided fight from the start to the finish. However, the fight took place in Helenius’ home country and the judges could have been influenced by the loud applause Helenius received each time he landed anything.

There wasn’t much too cheer for from Helenius because he mostly threw weak jabs that either missed or were picked off by Chisora. Some of the rounds were close, but it’s still very hard to see Helenius winning a decision because only a couple of the rounds were close.
