That was never more true than in today’s weigh-in with WBC super middleweight champ Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) and Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s).

Froch weighed in at 167 ½ pounds but looked skinny, weight drained and over-trained. For his part, Ward looked muscular, like someone who had just walked out of a weight room and a good meal. There are absolutely no signs of Ward having to starve himself to make weight nor do we see him looking over trained.

I don’t think Froch starved himself to make weight. That’s not way he looked like Skeletor at the weigh-in today. I think Froch just overdid in training camp trying to do too much to get ready for the fight. Froch is the type that counts every exercise he does and puts it a little black book. He max’s his body out with exercises for all of his fights, but I think for this one Froch spazzed out and probably upped his already Spartan exercise routine to the next level and instead of it benefiting Froch, it’s caused him to tear down and looked like someone that has been on a starvation diet.

I mean I’m not surprised Froch looks like a walking skeleton. When this fight was first announced, I figured Froch would stress out and exercise himself to the bone trying to get to a place where his mind would finally calm down. The thing is when you’re worried like Froch probably is; you become your worst enemy.

Ward doesn’t even need to beat Froch now, because he’s done such a good job of beating himself by working himself to the point where he’s now looking completely over-trained or drained. This is going to be a lot easier fight for Ward than I originally thought.
