Before December started, it was thought by some British fans that this was a new era for British boxers and one that would last ages.

Instead, it was all brought down with a crashing halt with losses by Amir Khan, Dereck Chisora, John Murray, and a draw by Martin Murray. Now only Froch remains and it doesn’t look good for him I must say. He’s the last one and his chances aren’t good against the much younger and physically equipped Ward. Heck, age has nothing to do with this fight. Froch would be out of his element even if he was younger than Ward. It’s about talent.

As quoted by the telegraph.co.uk, Froch said “I’ve got to restore Britain’s pride. Boxers are going away and not getting decisions and are losing. It’s not looking good for our nation. That puts even more pressure on me now. But I don’t mind that at all. I love the adrenalin from that. I desperately want to put us back on the world map. We can’t be a nation of losers.”

Oh brother. This is getting a bit syrupy from Froch. It’s hilarious though. Adrenalin won’t be enough to beat a star like Ward. You got to have the actual ability to get the job done. Froch can come into the fight as amped up as a mountain goat but he’s still going to lose unless he’s got the talent.

Let’s look at the qualities needed to beat a talent like Ward:

Speed – Froch doesn’t have it
Defensive ability – Froch really doesn’t have this
Power – Not enough power for Froch in this area
Foot movement – what foot movement? Froch moves like a snail in the ring

No, I’m afraid Froch won’t be able to turn around Britain’s losing streak tonight. Instead, he’ll add to it with what will likely be an embarrassing performance in losing to Ward.
