Tomasz Adamek’s trainer vows he will fight for title again

By John F. McKenna (McJack): Trainer Roger Bloodworth vows that his fighter former cruiserweight and light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek (44-2, 28 KO’s) will again challenge for the heavyweight championship of the world.

In their first mini fight camp since Adamek was stopped in the 10th round of his title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) Bloodworth had this to say in a Fightnews.com interview about the tough Polish born heavyweight:

“I was pleasantly surprised, how ready Adamek was, how sharp and accurate his punches were. We sat down, discussed the Klitschko fight, what happened and what should have happened. Adamek is not done. He wants to get better, he wants to learn new things, go to work. This is why I believe he will get another shot. He will fight for another world championship belt again.”

During the interview Bloodworth said that Tomasz got hit really hard in the first three rounds after which he reverted back to his old style of fighting. He wanted to fight and brawl. He forgot all about boxing. Once Adamek came out of his game plan he was never able to get back on track.

Bloodworth went on to say that in a perfect world he would have preferred to have waited another year before taking on Vitali, but in boxing things very rarely go exactly as planned. In another year the fight may not have been available.

Roger said the difference was that Vitali executed his game plan perfectly while his fighter did not. Bloodworth would not elaborate on Adamek’s game plan the next time he fights for the title but it will include more head and foot movement.

Responding to a comment by Lennox Lewis that he was not a world class trainer, Bloodworth pointed out that in 2003 Vitali was well ahead of Lewis with Emanuel Steward in his corner. Lewis was headed for defeat in that fight when it was stopped due to horrific cuts around Vitali’s eyes.

Bloodworth went on to say that Adamek’s one sided loss to Klitschko did not break his will to win. Instead it has stiffened his resolve to become a better fighter.

Bloodworth’s comment that once Adamek was hit hard in the first 3 rounds he reverted to his old style demonstrates once again how prophetic Joe Louis’s famous quote was.
Over 60 years ago Louis said:

“Every body has a plan until he gets hit.”

Adamek has proved himself against inferior oponnents and refuses to fight “dangerous” fighters.

Yeah right they wanted to wait another year they were going over backwards to get this fight i can remember Kathy Duva saying when Wlad-Haye got announced they were worried that Adamek might not get a shot this year…. zzz

  • James says:

this is freaking joke making excuses so much Adamek didnt revert back in to his old style he just was never that good he struggled with Grant and Mcbride those guys are bums!

  • Beer Party Movement says:

chaos j: ok, but will Arreola ever going to be considered fit ?
And im very sure Dimitrinko cant beat Adamek, did you see his last fight against Sprott, he really looked awfull. It was so bad i almost turned of my tv.

  • Beer Party Movement says:

Why are you being so critical against Adamek, at least he is doing what all the other contenders should do, and that is avoiding nobody, fighting top ten ranked opponents insted of just sitting around waiting for the Klitschko´s to retire.

  • Marco says:

no1 can win against Klitschko brothers.

  • rjhill says:

There will be no cigar for tomaz while the Klits rien.

  • chaos j says:

Beer party movement, re read my post, it clearly says A FIT ARREOLA. Arreola was overweight in that fight and still, in the later rounds, was smashing adamek about until he injured his hand

  • Beer Party Movement says:

chaos j. do your homework before typing, Adamek has already beaten Arreola.

  • chaos j says:

Either Klitschko, Povetkin, Helenius, Fury, Price, a fit Arreola, Dimitrenko, Thompson…all would beat Adamek, hes just too small

  • top hat says:

Is this a joke, yeah must be

  • Bisla says:

    nobody cares so boooo hooooo
