The fans see the foot stomping as big part of the reason why Marquez handled Pacquiao so well, and seem to have forgotten completely all the counter punches that Marquez was landing through the 12 round bout. However, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach thinks it’s a bunch of nonsense, and is asking Pacquiao’s fans not to make a silly production about this.
Roach said to Fight Saga “It’s [foot stomping] part of the sport. When lefties [southpaws] fight righties, it happens all the time. It happens and it’s part of fighting a southpaw [Pacquiao], so don’t think it should be a big of an issue. Don’t make an issue out of it.”

In other words, don’t get your panties in a bunch about Marquez accidentally stepping on Pacquiao’s feet five times in the fight because if that’s all it took for Marquez to control the fight then it really doesn’t say much about Pacquiao, does it?

Instead of looking at the foot stomping, Pacquiao fans should look at why Pacquiao was so inept at cutting off the ring and defending himself from Marquez’s counter punches. Floyd Mayweather Jr. handled Marquez with ease, cutting off the ring and getting out of the way of Marquez’s counter shots. It was too easy for Floyd. But Pacquiao looked like an amateur against Marquez and was completely clueless at times.
