Promoter says Tyson Fury will rule the heavyweights
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Mick Hennessey who promotes the fights for undefeated Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (17-0, 12 KO’s) says his fighter will eventually rule the heavyweight division. Fury defeated Bosnian born Canadian heavyweight champion Neven Pajkic (16-1, 5 KO’s) Saturday night via 3rd round TKO in a dramatic homecoming to Manchester. The bout was Fury’s debut fight in his hometown of Manchester.
There was some concern by some ringside observers that Fury did not make full use of his huge reach advantage and appeared to make little effort to hold his rival at bay with his long left jab.
Fury was anxious to put on a good show for his first fight in Manchester, but the bout exposed serious flaws in his pugilistic makeup. Tyson elected once again to enter the ring not in the best of condition.
Fury unloaded a huge right uppercut in the 3rd round and followed up with a series of punches which sent Pajkic to the canvas. The game Pajkic arose and was knocked down two more times before the referee stepped in to halt the contest.
Promoter Hennesey speaking of Fury’s prospects had this to say in a word of caution to Fury. Hennesey was quoted in the Daily Record.co.uk saying:
“Tyson’s got to stop getting drawn into gunfights and start being smart. Once he does that he’ll be the best heavyweight in the world. He wants the Klitschko’s and 18 months from now he’ll beat them.”
Fury speaking of his knockdown said:
“Champions go down and they get back up. It shows true grit to do that and knock the guy out.”
Fury recently took on new trainer Canadian Chris Johnson to replace his uncle who had previously served in that capacity. Fury said he wanted to use Johnson as his trainer for his fight with Pajkic and go from there. Tyson previously hit it off well with Johnson while working with the former WBF light heavyweight champion in Canada.
At this point it is way too premature for Fury and his promoter to even think about fighting the Klitschko’s. He has to first demonstrate that he has the maturity and work ethic to get himself into shape and follow the game plan laid out for him by his handlers.

Anyone can learn technique with time.. but not everyone has a heart as big as Tyson Fury does.. I am positive he will be a future World Champion.
Artur szpilka would Ko Fury in 4th round…
Tyson should go back to spinning the waltzers at fairgrounds, nicking hub caps or tarmacking drives, he just doesn’t cut it as a heavyweight, hes too slow, can’t seem to take advantage of his reach and has little power.
You mean after both Klitschko’s funerals ?
Hate this guy the best fight for him is audley Harrison
mick hennessey all most cryed when fury went down.
sexton vs fury january big fight
Give the young man time to develop! He is just a baby in boxing terms…
@davestevens: that´s b–it. Sure, it took Vladimir a good while to develop as a pro, but at least – as an olympic ch – he had some serious talent to work with. All Fury has is his size. You might want to ask Valuev if that´s enough..
What everyone is missing here is that Fury is only in his early 20′s. He will look like a rooky now coming from his background in fighting. once he gets a solid team around him and works on his fitness and technique by the time he is developed, the K’s will have either retired or will be over the hill. I would say that by the time Fury is 26, 27 he will be a serious contender. Maybe even world champion by then. Remember Vlad has been knocked down before in his career when he was younger and he developed. That is exactly what Fury will do.
Fury just isn’t good enough. He got dropped by a guy who only has 5 Ko wins.
tyson fury is a joke wlad and vitali would play with him then drop him like the sack of sugar he is
if klitschkos retire, than can everything happen.
Hi, “Tyson Lennox” got it right, yes! Fury should fight Helenius, both young big capable lads but Fury really a rookie still, I reckon no stamina to go in big fights yet. Happens like for Wlad in his early career when he run out of steam and got punished! But look at him now, physic fitness is the best of all time! Fury should remember to take his morning runnings instead of a bacon!
Sorry to disappoint all the haters, but Fury is definitely on the way up. He fights a lot, and his bouts are always exciting and unpredictible. Tyson is a real crowd pleaser. Champion or not, Fury is a breath of fresh air compared to some of those technically correct Klitchko snoozers. Go Fury!!
He got floored by a short, out of shape, light punching heavy (look at his record against other C and B fighters – only 5 KO’s!!) and then it took Fury 3 times to knock him down for the ref to stop it and he still idnt knock the little man out.
Fury is slow, has a poor defence, has little power and bad technique – he is the complete opposite to Wlad Klitschko.
Tyson fury is nothing but a fat gypsy nothing else t say on the bum
L.A.Doggy – It make a change to see a post that ISN’T about Pacman and Marquez, so F…u…k off with your moaning.
December 3rd Helenius will show Fury how a short fat HW like Chisora should be dealt with.
very amusing comment to make “rule the heavyweights”……Answer me this Mick, how does a fighter that is 6ft 9inc tall get floored by an overhand right to the chin by a 6ft heavyweight AND THEN go on to “rule the heavyweights” hahaha joker!
Ourkid, agreed, last time he spent time with Steward, he showed a world of improvement.
He looked like he’d gone backwards against Pajkic. He didn’t take him seriously.
If he can sort his defence out, he’ll be a good un.
He should fight Helenius, who is in the business for 3 years and doing much better. Helenius should definately fight Fury after Chisora and then Vitali.
let be real.
If, and this is a big if, Tyson can fight well technically, behind hs jab and pick his punches, with good defense (both movement and block) he will be a challange for Klitcho’s.
But, Wlad and vitali have been doing this brilliantly for years, and i don’t think Tyson has the patience to develop enough to be able to beat them.
He needs a Steward in his corner.
price has got his cards marked ! knock out in 3 rounds !! he gets tagged to easy, and with a guy who hits a lot harder fury will not get up !!
Fury is a slow, fat bum who would be destroyed by K bros, Helenius, Povetkin, Boytsov, Chagaev.. pretty much anyone worth mentioning would put him to sleep. Sure, he´s young and has plenty of time to improve, but it takes years for him to be anywhere near being a champion.
I guess the Klitschko’s will be retiring soon.
What does Mick Hennesey know? Mr Fury is good but he wont be that good in 18 months. He wont beat Helenius and propably not Povetkin and he Will never ever beat any Klitschko.
I thought he would lose to chisora, but he dominated him. Maybe he is a contender.
@ John F: dude, who gives a F…u…k about Tyson?! Can’t you see that people are still bickering about the PAC and Marquez fight.
They should announce him as ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson Fury!!
