Khan wants Bradley next or else he’s moving up to 147

By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan still wants to beat WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley to take his belt and prove to the boxing world that he’s the best fighter at 140. If Khan can’t get the Bradley fight, he says he’ll move up to 147 to seek out bigger names.

Khan said to Sky Sports News “It’s [moving up in weight] nothing to do with making the weight; it’s for the new challenge and motivation. I want to meet new fighters and that is what is going to drive me. We’ll see what happens after this [Lamont Peterson] fight and whether Bradley is going to take the fight. If not, I will move up to 147 lbs.”

Khan faces Peterson on December 10th at the Convention center in Washington, DC. Peterson is the opponent that Khan wanted rather than a rematch with Marcos Maidana or fights against Lucas Matthyse, Humberto Soto, Danny Garcia or Ajose Olusegun. Peterson doesn’t have much power and that could be a big factor in Khan wanting that fight rather than the more exciting possibilities against Maidana or Matthysse.

At welterweight, Khan’s world will change. There are some really dangerous fighters there and Khan’s chin will be tested if he decides to step it up against the best fighters at that weight. Khan can succeed against the lesser known fighters but if he takes on the big guys he’ll probably get knocked out and sent packing back to the 140 pound division to seek out safer opponents.

I have a growing respect for Kahn. He truly wants to fight the best. Now let’s see if Bradley will FINALLY step up to the plate and accept Kahn’s challenge.

patrick do yourself a favour get some knowledge , for example bradley begged khan for the fight . he even asked if he could come fight in manchester . khan ran as 3 fighters wanted the fight {when mccloskey pulled out at first } the three fighters where maidana . bradley n prescott , funny how a week later mccloskey was offered more money init ?

He’smoving up to 147, but so are the other guys in his division: Maidana & Alexander. Bradley might end up being undisputed just by being the only guy left at 140. I want Khan to do well, but I think he might find it more difficult at 147… at the moment he’s pretty big amongst mostly smaller guys.

Bob Arum Make this fight happen Khan wants Bradley and Bradley wants Khan bad so lets make this fight happen Bob. Bradley vs Khan would be a huge fight.

  • jc says:

bradley is Top Rank Boxer now. Its imposible for Arum to let Bradley face other than Top Rank Boxer. Fool yourself Khan… Needing some attention?

  • LLCoolP says:

Bradley does not have a fan friendly style and isn’t an interesting personality. He took half a fight to beat a forty year old who was high!!!

Don’t just say if Khan faces big names in 147 he will get KO’ed! Tell us the Name you are thinking of! Then we will see if your right or wrong! Berto or ortiz or Kell Brook, Khan has better change of beating them then they have to beat Khan!

aki bola – wat a stupid comment! bradley looked good against an “over the hill” casamayor” not being funny but any1 can look good against a 40yr old bum, khan will beat bradley no problems but bradley wont fight khan unless khan had 1 hand behind his back

  • Bisla says:

even if bradley agrees to fight khan “Uncle BOB” wont let them fight remember bradley is his next cash cow so it dont make sense to risk his “0″…….and anyways I think bradley wud win tha khan fight anyways…. easy decsion “W”

  • Aki Bola says:

Bradley looked very good against over the hill Casamayor and will give Khan all kinds of trouble. Bring it on!

  • Hook & Jab says:

Its easy to say you want the fight when you know the fight not going to happen but I would love to see the look on Kwan face if Bradley comes out and says…lets fight. I don’t see Kwan being serious about fighting a fighter with real skills.

  • polo says:

arum is not gona deal with goldenboy. Fights between these two companys wont happen untill arum is gone.

  • joseph kekgopilwe says:

i think bradley will avoid this risky fight, as he is eyeing megafight with manny pacqiuo. if he looses to khan he wont attract many big fights again.
