Golovkin added to Klitschko Show on Dec 10, faces Lajuan Simon

World Boxing Association (WBA) Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin, 21-0 with 18 KOs, will defend his world title against Lajuan Simon, 23-3, 12 KOs from Philadelphia, PA.

This fight will be the co-feature for the Klitschko vs Mormeck Heavyweight Championship that will take place at the ESPRIT arena in Dusseldorf, Germany on Dec 10.

Golovkin, who lives in Stuttgart, won the silver medal in the 2004 Olympic games and is considered one of the most exciting boxers in the sport today. This will be his third world title defense and the first time Golovkin will box in Germany since 2009. German boxing fans have been eagerly awaiting his return and his fight will be shown as the co-feature of the International broadcast shown in over 100 countries worldwide.

Lajuan Simon is also familiar to German boxing fans, having fought in title fights in Germany against Artur Abraham and Sebastian Sylvester, going the distance in both fights.

Golovkin is a very strong fighter who will be the dominant person in the middleweight in the next years. I believe he is stronger than Felix Sturm and I also think that he would beat him.”

Gennady Golovkin: “I am excited to fight on such a big show with Wladimir Klitschko in one of the best soccer stadiums in Europe. I will make the most of this opportunity and show my talent in front of all the fans in the stadium and everybody watching around the world.”

Tom Loeffler, managing director of K2 Promotions, says: “We are excited to be able to add Gennady on to our show and give the fans a second world title fight on the show. He has proven himself to be a true champion.”

The fight will be broadcast live and exclusively on RTL in Germany, in the U.S. on ESPN3 and also shown in 120 countries worldwide.
