David Haye vs. Vitali Klitschko: How will this possible fight pan out?

Image: David Haye vs. Vitali Klitschko: How will this possible fight pan out?By Tyler David: As we all know, talks are currently being held between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. What I aim to do in this article is to imagine some of the possible scenarios (without being biased) in which the fight will pan out.

The first scenario is probably the one most people will think will happen, a mirror image of the Haye vs Wlad fight but with a potential KO. In this scenario Vitali will be coming forward throwing his jab constantly at Haye. Vitali will definitely be more aggressive than his brother Wlad was. Haye will most likely be fighting on the backfoot trying to throw single punches at Vitali. Vitali is not afraid to get hit and has the chin to take Haye’s shots and throw back some of his own. The whole fight will be David Haye moving, potshotting and trying to counter the aggressive, hard hitting and determined Vitali. The thing is, is that Vitali is very awkward and very hard to hit, especially for a smaller guy such as Haye. Vitali may be able to avoid many of Haye’s punches and come back with hard straights and hooks. This scenario would almost definitely lead to a Klitschko win, either by UD or a big KO.

This second scenario is very, very different. What people have to remember is that Vitali is 40 years old. You would not know this judging by how he has fought his recent competition, but against Odlanier Solis (even though Vitali won by KO 1) he was getting beaten to the punch and was getting countered by a talented but smaller, fatter man. If Solis was able to do this then David Haye will without a doubt at some point be able to do this. The question is how long will he be able to do it for? And how effective will this be?. Haye has the speed, talent and overall athletic ability to cause Vitali a lot of problems. If Haye is successful moving, countering and boxing Vitali then maybe, just maybe, he can get something out of this fight. If this scenario plays out then I would give Haye a chance of getting a decision but no KO.

My heart wants David Haye to win as it would bring back much needed excitement to a currently boring division. But my head says that Vitali Klitschko will probably have Haye running once he hits him with power shots. I like Both Klitschko’s and Haye and will support Haye as he is from my country. I will not talk bad about either of the Klitschko’s as they are very good at what they do and Wlad will almost certainly be a top 20 all time great heavyweight once he is retired.
