McKenna (McJack): International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Middleweight champion Lucian “Mister KO” Bute (29-0, 24 KO’s) will continue to work on building his legacy when he takes on the ageless 42 year old former light heavyweight champion Glen “The Road Warrior” Johnson (51-15-2, 35 KO’s) on November 5.

The venue for the fight will be the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec. The match will be aired live on Showtime (9p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).

The undefeated Romanian born Bute is a superstar in Canada and is also the largest box office draw there. The fight with Johnson will be Bute’s 9th title defense. He has stopped seven of the eight fighters who have challenged him for his title belt. Lucian has only gone the distance in five of his twenty nine fights.

“The Road Warrior” became a legend for his fights with Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr. and Antonio Tarver. The Jamaican born Johnson, who has been fighting out of Miami for the past two decades, got his nickname because of his willingness to leave his home turf and fight in his opponents backyard. This will be Johnson’s 10th title fight and once again he is fighting in the enemy camp.

More than likely the winner of the Bute – Johnson fight will face the winner of the much ballyhooed Super Six World Boxing Classic which concludes on December 17 on Showtime. That fight will feature World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Carl Froch taking on WBA champion Andre Ward.

Bute became the IBF super middleweight champion when he scored an 11th round TKO victory over Alejandro Berrio on October 19, 2007.

In his last fight on July 9, for the 8th title defense of his title, Bute returned to his homeland of Romania. Lucian had previously said that defending his crown in Romania was something that he had always wanted to do. He took on number one contender and mandatory challenger Jean-Paul Mendy of France. Bute once again demonstrated his dominance by knocking out Mendy in the 4th round.

Bute and Johnson are very familiar with each others styles having spent time sparring in the gym. Lucian however, is quick to point out that sparring in the gym is far different than an actual fight.
