Isn’t Pacquiao wasting his training time by letting someone hit him with a club over and over?

By Chris Williams: I’m sure all of us have done things in the past that we’ve regretted. I think Manny Pacquiao may have the same kind of thing when he looks back at some of his training routines such as letting someone hit him over and over again with a small club. I can’t think of a more ridiculous looking training routine than this one. It’s silly.

I don’t see how it can get a fighter ready for taking body shots or simulate what happens when you’re in the head of battle. To me it seems more like a wasted torture routine that can hurt a fighter more than help. Just look at it. Pacquiao lets some guy tag him with a little club to the midsection over and over again. The only good I can see out of it is some kind of manhood thing similar to jumping in an ice hole in a big lake.

Sure, it proves that you’re fearless but what’s the point? Where’s the science behind this that proves that it’s worthwhile to do? I don’t think it’s a smart thing to do to have some punish your midsection like this. A better way to get used to getting hit in the midsection is to have someone actually punching you there, don’t you think?

I’ve seen Antonio Margarito do this practice as well and thought it was pretty silly when he was doing it, but I didn’t think Pacquiao would waste time on it as well. Doesn’t his trainer Freddie Roach have something a little more modern to get Pacquiao ready for taking body shots from Juan Manuel Marquez?

I think this is a really bad move by Pacquiao. I guess it’s harmless as long as he’s not sustaining injuries, but it seems more like punishment without any real point. I think Pacquiao’s time would be better spent on learning how to protect himself by blocking body shots or working on his footwork. I’ve noticed that Pacquio doesn’t move as well as he used to. He needs to be working on that rather wasting time having someone give him a pink belly with a little club.

Chris, they should use that technique on you. I doubt it would have much effect because any sense of your muscle definition is hidden behind your 300 pound layer of fatty coach potato blubber. Perhaps instead they could hit you with that stick on your head. At least that would put an end to your torrid “articles”.

    His training time, his rules

Instead of hitting him with a stick, tell him to take the test.

This is why Mrs. Chrissy Williams has reason to be writing articles on boxing. Its clear you don’t know anything about the sport..or the training methods. I wish i could punch you right in the Belly..or Club you for sheer ignoracne…your just an uniformed waste of chromosomes!!!

It is a proven fact that it is harder for the eye to read all-caps than mixed case. It is also almost always a demonstration in the poster’s intellect, not saying you’re stupid or immature, but more often than not it is an ignorant person who types in ALL-CAPS.

the ”sticking” is not for physical development but on mental..it is use to condition manny’s brain for higher pain tolerance…that is why manny doesnt show any pain if he is being hit…now you know, chris…

Gee, what happens if he gets hit in the head?

  • Josh says:

Chris Williams is an ignorant NAGGER! (South Park reference..oh I went there!) I’m convinced with his 3+ Pacquiao articles/day that he is obsessed. Also, I’ve seen the stick thing done to Manny for years. If you’ve watched prior 24/7′s, you would see.

tarantado ka cris williams! hindot na 2, kasama sa trainning yun..di ka ba nag iisip!

  • Concussive_Force says:

Yeah, that’s not something that Pacquiao is known to do. There have been a few 24/7′s that feature Manny Pacquiao. I’ve never seen him do this while training. I know Margarito did the same and in the ring, in round 4, he was hurt to the body. I don’t think that will happen to the indestructable master of power pellets. As long as Manny continues to look like he’s indestructable, I’ll always have my suspicions. That’s neither here nor there. The stick to the stomach is just stupid to me and the last time I saw that, the fighter got his self hurt by some body shots. JMM, go to the body.

    THE FINAL ANALYSIS

I am a neutral observer in this fight and I don’t either favor of anyone between Pacman and Marquez. They are both brave and fearless fighters in the ring. I truly believe a “Trilogy is a must to resolve the puzzle of doubts among boxing fans including the hardcore followers of both fighters.

In their first encounter in 2004 the verdict was declared a “Draw”. Lately then one of the judges admitted he made an error in his scorecard. Pacman was deprived of a victory. Had it not been for the mistake, Manny should have won in that bout.

In their 2nd battle in 2008, Manny Pacquiao won by a slim margin. And, accordingly, the knockdown of Marquez made the difference. It could have been a draw or a win for Marquez. In my honest opinion even if the knockdown counts in favor of Pacquiao, I believe Marquez won in that fight.

Assuming that Manny Pacquiao won the 1st fight and in the 2nd fight was won by Juan Marquez, a 3rd fight is really necessary to determine who is the better fighter. Both camps are clamoring of a clearcut win in those two fights. It is now hightime to watch the real deal on November 12 next month. Marquez tells the whole world that he is fully prepared in their upcoming war and won’t take it lightly and so is Manny Pacquiao. I anticipate the outcome of the fight either Pacman or Marquez being knockout or tko.

From some resouceful friend Manny will stun Marquez. He has a secret strategy to neutralize Marquez counter punches and will deviate from the old style of in and out strategy as Marquez find a matery of confronting Manny in the past. The flag of its country is at stake as well as the pride, honor and fame of each fighter.

This fight is physical that makes it thrilling, exciting and interesting. I don’t subscribe to the idea that this clash between two proven great ring warriors is one-sided. But in the end, I guess Manny will emerge victorious simply because of his world boxing status defeating all former boxing champions and current champions being matched against him. In my own personal analysis the fight won’t last 6 rounds. I maybe right or I maybe wrong.
