The win will bring DeGale closer to getting the world title shot that he’s craved since he turned pro after winning a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics.

DeGale is arguably the best fighter in the UK right now, and he’s going to cement that opinion by trouncing Wilczewski with ease and picking up his European Boxing Union title.

DeGale has a doubters after he lost his last fight to George Groves last May. While it appeared that DeGale should have won the fight by at least two rounds, possibly four, the fact that he had to struggle against a guy that doesn’t have the same talent as him isn’t a good thing.

Groves proved that DeGale can have problems against fighters that come up with a good fight strategy. DeGale was slow in adapting to the hit and run style that Groves was using and by the time he did fully adjust in the 5th, Groves had already piled up a nice little lead.

DeGale has to put that loss behind him tonight and focus on making Wilczewski pay for anything he tries. DeGale has to go after Wilczewski at a double step, he can’t afford to plod forward like he did in the Groves loss and expect to win. Putting pressure on Wilczewski is the best way to win easily.
