Bradley: Khan needs me; I don’t need him

By William Mackay: WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) will be fighting in front of a nationwide audience on November 12th against 40-year-old Joel Casamayor (38-5-1, 22 KO’s) on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bob Arum, Bradley’s new promoter from Top Rank, is gambling that he can turn Bradley into a star and put him in with Arum cash cow fighter Pacquiao at some point in the not too distant future. In the meantime, the fight that a lot of hardcore boxing fans want to see is Bradley vs. IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan.
Bradley initially attempted to make the fight with Khan around the same time Khan signed with Golden Boy Promotions, Bradley says. However, Bradley was ignored. When he started having promotional problems suddenly Khan and Golden Boy became interested in making the fight with Bradley, but now it was Khan’s turn to be ignored.
Bradley says he wants to wait on the Khan fight until after both of them are bigger stars, and right now it’s not a good time. Bradley is in effect letting the fight build for a later date. It’s a gamble because we’ve already seen Khan knocked out once before against Breidis Prescott, and then almost knocked out against in his fight against Marcos Maidana.
Bradley said “Right now, at 140, Amir Khan can’t move without me. He needs me. I don’t need him. I am going to get in there and fight my fights and that’s it.”

William Mackay are you as dum.b as you write? Bradley was the one called Khan out for July date!!! And as soon as Khan said yes let fight, Bradley started making excuses! So it was Bradley who called Khan out but it was a bluff!

Keep dreaming Timmy, it’s you that needs Khan. Everyone knows Khan is the money man at 140 and is the ticket seller whereas Bradley can’t sell tickets for toffee. Khan’s the number 1 in the division now and the sooner Bradley excepts this the better.

Who is Bradley kidding? With Khan being based in the states they are more less equal draws out there while Khan is massively bigger over the pond (though big credit to Tim when he came to Nottingham and beat Junior Witter for the title, take note Andre Dirrell). Speed wise there is nothing between the fighters but Khans has way way more power, his chin has been questioned but Bradley wont have the power to do anything about it.

Besides manny and floyd, Khan are making some of the biggest numbers in the PPV and HBO box offices. He’s becoming one of the most sought after names in boxing. period. Only hardcore boxing fans know who the hell Bradley is. And it’s only because of his massive alien head not because of his devastating 39% KO ratio! haha.
Khan will take him to school if they meet, which I hope they don’t as it would be boring and one sided.
Bradley is right. Khan needs to encounter that forehead up in his grill.
Whilst Casamayor is past his best and will lose, I expect Casamayor to give Bradley a few problems. Casamayor is durable, if limited at this weight. He made Guerrero look untidy at times.
My problem with this fight is that Bradley and Casamayor aren’t very interesting. It will be a long, boring, lop sided UD to Bradley that won’t enhance Bradley’s reputation. Bradley needs to enhance his reputation by fighting the likes of Maidana, Guerrero, Berto, Khan or even Morales. Boxers become stars by having great fights.

Let’s see how Bradley goes against Casamayor before calling out Amir. I don’t think Amir has had too many sleepless nights about Bradley after seeing Bradley’s performance against Alexander.
