Mayweather then teed off on Ortiz with a two shot combination as soon as the action resumed after Ortiz was docked a point for the foul from referee Joe Cortez.

Speaking to mydesert.com, Bradley said “I don’t see anything wrong with it. Ortiz threw a cheap shot, so there you go. He got knocked out. This is a dirty business. That’s why they say protect yourself at all times.”

Bradley is probably right. Ortiz should have at least put his guard after he got hit with the first shot from Mayweather instead of looking at referee Cortez to see if he would do anything about it. Cortez was staring at the timekeeper at the time and no even watching the action.

Even if he was watching it, expecting Cortez to take a point away from the more popular Mayweather, who is one of boxing’s biggest stars, was really expecting too much. Ortiz should have recognized that and kept his guard up even when apologize. You never know what to expect after you foul someone the way that Ortiz did.

As for Bradley, he could be signing with Top Rank Promotions any day now and is a strong possibility to be fighting on the November 12th undercard for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez III fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. If Bradley takes that fight, it will be only his second fight during 2011. He defeated Devon Alexander last January but has been inactive since then dealing with legal problems with his promoters. Bradley wants to fight WBC light welterweight champion Erik Morales, who defeated Pablo Cesar Cano last Saturday night to capture Bradley’s old WBC belt which was stripped from him by the WBC.
