Image: Pacquiao and Roach undecided who wins Mayweather-Ortiz battle on SaturdayBy Chris Williams: It may be that they both are hopeful that Floyd Mayweather Jr. loses this Saturday to WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz or it may be that they actually don’t know who will win this fight, but Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach are both undecided about how comes out the victor between Mayweather and Ortiz.

“It’s hard to say,” Pacquiao said in an article at northjersey.com. “Both fighters have advantages. Floyd’s faster than Ortiz and Ortiz is stronger than Floyd, so it depends on how hard they trained for the fight.”

Don’t you love how Pacquiao really goes out on the limb to pick this decision. Come on, Pacquiao, make a pick. He basically danced around the question without spitting it out about who wins it.

His trainer Freddie Roach uses the same approach, saying “Victor’s a big strong kid. He’s a god puncher. You’ve got to give him a shot. Obviously, Mayweather’s a great boxer and you’ve got to favor him a little bit. But he’s been off a long time and I think Victor has a slight shot of pulling off the upset.”

I wonder how broken up Roach would be if Mayweather is beaten on Saturday and knocked out badly? If Roach has his head screwed on correctly, he should be really upset about it because once Mayweather suffers a lot, no matter who it’s against, it’s going to take a lot of the interest away from a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight. The same goes for Pacquiao when he takes on 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez in November.

Mayweather had the experience, agility, speed and the athletic ability. Those factors should be enough to carry Mayweather to victory in this fight. He won’t be bothered by Ortiz’s slugging style and I can see him picking Otiz apart with power shots.
