Ortiz won’t be protesting the KO loss to Mayweather

By Chris Williams: Despite being knocked out with his hands down by his sides former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz has decided not to protest the KO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. to the Nevada Athletic Commission.
It’s not surprising that Ortiz won’t be making a fuss about the decision because it’s clear upon review of the fight that referee Joe Cortez had called for the two fighters to resume action. It was Ortiz’s rookie mistake to try and get in another hug after that time. Ortiz had already hugged Mayweather previously to let him know he was sorry for spearing him with his head.
Oddly enough, Ortiz said after the fight that he hadn’t purposely attempted to hit Mayweather with his head. It’s hard to understand how Ortiz couldn’t have tried to hit Mayweather with his head when Ortiz went airborne to hit Mayweather by jumping forward to connect with the crown of his head to Mayweather’s face. It looked like Ortiz was a football player launching himself into a quarterback. How that couldn’t have been intentional is beyond me. It looked pretty blatant from what I saw of it, and I don’t know what Ortiz was thinking when he did that. That has to be intentional because what else could have been going through Ortiz’s mind to leap forward like that when Mayweather was covering up.

Ortiz is a flawed character who has a history of quitting.
He has to lie cause he can’t come to terms with his character weakness, so buries it under a mountain of lies and woe me for my poor upbrining routine.

would have been kind of pointless when the nevada commision already made statement saying floyd did nothing wrong and that the head butt by otiz was the most blaintent they have ever seen.

You must be joking. What is there to protest. If anybody was a fault is was the referee (who by the way did tell them to resume fighting) for turning his attention to the timekeeper, and also Ortiz for not protecting himself at all times. Mayweather did was he was susposed to do and that is box. All of us can sit here from the outside and judge, but let someone grab your shoulders and leap to hit you in the mounth, you would be most eagar to get it on just like Mayweather.
If Manny’s refusal to take RBT with no cut-off is a sign that he’s trying to hide his use of PEDS, than every punch he throws is an illegal punch. There are ways of protesting whether he is or not, and it’s not with the boxing commission, it simply asking him to take the test.

It was a fixed fight just like WWE the ref was indeed a good actor though.
Since Oscar took over boxing promotions there has been nothing but fixed fights for Manny and Mayweather. I love boxing but is going downhill because of this.
Ortiz clearly felt he was struggling against FMJ.
I think the biggest thing to come out of the fight form Ortiz’s point of view is his in-experience.
The build up and the media coverage for this fight was huge in comparison to anything he has undergone before. Some fighters just arent suitable for this kind of promotion. Ortiz appeared quite comfortbale with it but obviously it looked like it took its toll in the ring.
Ortiz would have always struggled with FMJ, but with more experience at this level, he would not have done something silly like he did and Ortiz always has a chance to ko people with his power.
I’ll be interested to see who Ortiz faces next.

I am suprised, people are still choking with jealous? Ortiz has said there is noting to protest about and some people want to protest on his behalf? Let as work hard to make the Floyd/Manny fight, all this anger and jealousy will not end until that definitive day when Floyd shows Manny that he is too skilled for him.
There is nothing to protest about. Let it go, Victor was done, and saved from a humiliating defeat. I am sure Victor does not want anything to do with Floyd.

@manny may: the seats at dallas stadium were less expensive. Cotto sold a lot of seats at yankee stadium doesn’t mean he’s a bigger ticket than mayweather.
@ Manny May….do you know why you Flips fill the Cowboy stadium? It is exactly done with you in mind. The tickets are one third the price of Floyd tickets. You fill that stadium like horses.

Hey Chris what do you make Floyd not selling out the MGM. I mean you would think not only would he sell it out but have people missing out trying to go. I guess he isn’t such a big draw as Manny who not sells out the MGM but puts 50 thousand in Cowboys stadium on every outting.
