He defies all the odds and becomes a true great in a matter of seconds and becomes the people’s hero for years to come. This fight could define Victor Ortiz or it could crush him.

Ortiz has everything going for him too. He is bigger than Floyd Mayweather; he is quick and has huge power punches which have seen him knockdown all his opponents at least once. There are many reasons why Ortiz could beat Mayweather, but in reality we could add up all the stats in Ortiz favour and it would still matter little.

Fighting Floyd Mayweather and talking of fighting Mayweather are two very different things. He will systematically break Ortiz down round after round. I do expect Ortiz to be dangerous and competitive for the opening rounds at least.

It is up to him to show us if he can hold on to his WBC title and defy the odds, which naturally are heavily in favour of Mayweather. It is just another huge fight for Mayweather another day at the office, he has been here before.

The world expects him to win. This is different territory for Ortiz. This will be by far the biggest night in his Boxing career and he could be forgiven for having stage fright. But after the bout i hope he doesn’t use any excuses should he lose. Take it on the chin move on and come back better than before.

He is still young enough to do it. I can see Mayweather stopping Ortiz at some point too. He will break him down, and take the fight out of him before stopping him like he did Hatton. Ortiz has a similar style to Hatton. He likes to be the aggressor constantly coming forward and although he has more power than Hatton, it is this recklessness that will cost him the fight.

Ortiz is not hard to hit. Just ask Marcos Maidana and Andre Berto who have dropped him before. This doesn’t bide well especially fighting the most accurate puncher in the world. Mayweather will win, laying the gauntlet down for Manny Pacquaio come November when he takes on Juan Manuel Marquez. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter: @dallan09
