Maidana destroys Petrov in 4th round TKO

By Dan Ambrose: Making his first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight title, Marcos Maidana (31-2, 28 KO’s) made easy work of Russian lightweight Petr Petrov (29-3-2, 13 KO’s) on Friday night, stopping the 28-year-old Petrov in the 4th round at the Sociedad Alemana, Villa Ballester, Buenos Aires. Maidana knocked Petrov down twice in the 4th. After the second knockdown referee called a halt to the slaughter.

No.1 rule for referee: The health of boxer is the most important thing. If the ref feels a guy has enough it is his choice, he is in the ring, he feels the electricity, hears boxers breath, see the pain in their eyes … it is not so easy as it looks
Stoppage was too early.
He finished him with a left hook to the body and he got up at 8! Or thats what I saw anyway.
fight stopped too early, bloke WAS on his feet and should have been given the chance to continue.
ref stoppages are occurring far too often nowadays
why does people keep on hating pacquiao,khan,ariza and roach? i know why.it is because they are so great!!!!

If Maidana coudn’t win a rematch against Khan, why the rematch doesn’t take place ?? It would mean many million dollars for everybody. The reason is that the opposite is true: Khan would have little chance against Maidana. You don’t win the lottery every day.
I can’t see no point to fight Marcos against Khan again, he can’t never win, he’s slow on his feet and his hands might be heavy but it means they are slow as well. Khan outboxing him every time.
On the other hand I see a little improvements in Petrov fight, he starts to jab a bit and had a couple of successful counters, second thing is, Petrov is not an elite fighter, didn’t move well and just waited for a KO, tried to exchange with Maidana when hurt.
Love to see Maidana fight Khan again. Don’t think it will happen though, Madiana is too dangerous
Well done Marcos. Great fighter, he looks like a young David Tua and fights exactly the same. I think he could beat Khan should a rematch happen

what a waste of time this fight was, Khan clearly said if Miadana fights Morales and picks a belt other than WBA, he will fight fight maidana. All maidana’s got is trash talk and no trou$ers!

easy work for Maidana ! I hope the fight with Guerrero will be happen after Guerrero rehabilitation ! Also I would like to see a rematch with Morales and another with Khan …. it would be awesome !

Maidana fought Petr who is away from others league of quaility. Khan needs to concentrate on putting the pressure on being the first boxer who has mayweathers number to put him down. If maidana wants khan than he needs to move up to 147 lbs. and run after khan for the rematch.
i just saw fight maidana is looking like a wrecking ball no way will mrs pacman risk getting in with maidana again and his mom freddie wont let the boy go out to play
