Image: Jeff Mayweather: Pacquiao isn't the same fighter he once was, but he should still beat MarquezBy Chris Williams: I guess I’m not the only one who can see major slippages in Manny Pacquiao’s physical skills since 2009. Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., sees some deterioration in Pacquiao’s game as well.

However, Mayweather doesn’t think that Pacquiao has degraded enough to where he’ll lose to 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12th. Mayweather points out that Marquez has been in a lot of wars since he last fought Pacquiao in 2008.

Speaking with examiner.com, Jeff said “Marquez has been in a lot of wars since their first battle. Of course, Pacquiao’s not the same fighter, so I learn towards Pacquiao.”

Jeff sees Pacquiao as the reason why the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight hasn’t been made, saying “If you don’t have nothing to hide, step up to the plate and show that you don’t have nothing to hide [and take the Olympic style blood tests for performance enhancing drugs]. The last thing I heard was [Alex] Ariza said ‘We’re not taking no kind of test.’ That must mean y’all motherf****** don;t want to fight, because that’s the only thing stopping the fight from happening.”

Bob Arum, the promoter for Pacquiao, says Manny is ready to take the tests to fight Mayweather. However, Arum also doesn’t want to force Pacquiao to stay in the United States during his entire training camp in order to fight Mayweather. This would mean that Pacquiao would spend half of his training camp in the Philippines where he would be tested by another drug testing agency instead of the one that Mayweather wants and trusts, the USADA. That’s a nonstarter for Mayweather and I can understand why.

All Pacquiao has to do is stay in the U.S just this once so that he can be tested throughout his training camp for a fight with Mayweather and then there wouldn’t be any problems. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
