Froch wants Ward to fight with the cut

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is unconcerned with WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward’s cut he sustained over his right eye this past week and wants him to tough it out and fight with the cut.

It’s hard to believe Froch would be as cavalier about a cut as bad as the one that Ward suffered, which required seven stiches to sew up. Froch thinks that Ward’s cut has plenty of time to heal up before October 29th, which was when their fight was supposed to take place.

Froch said “This is absurd and unprofessional. Ward needs to get his act together… For a cut to put you out of a fight a full five weeks before the event is ludicrous. If it were two weeks out from the fight, maybe I’d understand. But he’s got 35 days to deal with it. To me, he’s showing his weakness.”

I bet Froch wouldn’t anywhere near the ring if he had cut. He’d probably be taking it easy wanting at least three solid months to let the thing heal. But it’s interesting to see Froch carefree about Ward’s injuries. I guess Froch was hoping Ward would fight him with the cut so that he can get an extra edge in the fight when the cut opens up and starts bleeding all over creation. I have no doubts that Ward would still beat Froch even with a bad cut, but my only worries there is the fight might get stopped because of the cut. Ward would dominate up until the stoppage but that mess things up completely if he couldn’t continue because of a ripped eye that he came into the fight with.
