Dibella thinks Pacquiao doesn’t have too many more options for big fights available to him once he gets past Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12th.

Dibella also sees former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz as a fight that will happen in the near future. That’s kind of a given, because Berto needs to fight Ortiz to try and avenge his 12 round decision loss to Ortiz from last April.

For Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum to want to match Manny against Berto, it’s going to take some important wins for Berto for him to get to the point where Berto will be big enough name for Arum to want to pit his cash cow fighter Pacquiao up with Berto. Right now, Berto still isn’t a big enough name for a Berto-Pacquiao fight to be a big deal on pay per view.

It’s easier and smarter for Arum to match Pacquiao against his in house fighters like Mike Jones, Miguel Cotto and Brandon Rios than it would be for Arum to put Pacquiao in a risky fight against Berto. Arum wants to make stars out of his stable fighters like Rios and Jones. The best way to do that is to match Pacquiao up with them and hope they don’t stink out the joint with a non-effort like Top Rank fighter Joshua Clottey did in his loss to Pacquiao in March 2010.

Berto will have to defend his title against the hard hitting Randall Bailey soon, and that’s not a big fight but it will have a substantial risk involved for Berto because Bailey can really punch. If he connects with enough right hands in the first two or three rounds, he could score an upset against Berto.
