Johnson realizes that not only may this be his last chance at a title but he may have to score a knockout to ensure that he gets a win in this fight. It’s very doubtful he’ll be given a decision in traveling to Bute’s adopted country of Canada.

However, the good news is that with his power, he’s got a decent chance of knocking Bute out if he can take him deep and continue to land shots instead of wilting early like four out of Bute’s last six opponents have done.

If you can take Bute’s shots and land your own big punches, you’ll find that Bute’s own ability to take punishment isn’t all that good. In other words, Bute can dish it out just fine but he has problems taking that same punishment. That’s where Johnson has a real chance of winning this fight.

Bute hasn’t taken on a really good opponent in four years since he defeated Sakio Bika by a 12 round decision in June 2007. Since then, Bute has faced mostly average class fighters such as Librado Andrade, Edison Miranda, Brian Magee, Jean Paul Mendy, William Joppy, Fulgencio Zuniga and Alejandro Berrio. So although Johnson is getting up there in age at 42, he’s still better than those guys and really don’t know how well Bute will hold up under the strain of getting hit at least three to four times really hard in every round of the fight.

Bute will likely play the hit and immediately back up game that he often does when facing someone who can punch a little. However, Bute is still very hittable if you time him for when he makes his own attacks. All you do is wait on him and when he goes to throw his left hook or right uppercut, you nail him.
