Image: Burns vs. Katsidis: Ricky has tough task aheadby Daniel Henderson: Following the news of Ricky Burns vacating the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Featherweight title to step up to Lightweight to challenge for the WBO title I couldn’t help thinking that he was avoiding the young talented American Adrien Broner.

But as the news came in that he would be fighting tough Australian Micheal Katsidis I changed my mind slightly.

Taking the risks into consideration he may have thought to himself that it was to much of a risk to fight Adrien Broner as he is an excellent counter puncher with good power and if he were to lose he would be left in the wilderness. He well may of thought that it would be a better risk to step up and fight for the vacant WBO Lightweight title and become a two weight world champion for which would be an incredible feat considering only a few years ago most fans and pundits alike including myself thought he would go on to be a good domestic level fighter and maybe be a european contender.

I do believe Ricky will lose the fight and the reason why I say this is because in thirty two wins he has only stopped nine opponents and Katsidis is always willing to take a lot of punishment to back his opponent up and unload with a barrage of punches. On the other hand If Ricky sticks to a good plan and boxes and doesn’t go to war I can see him winning a decision especially being at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow as there will be a great atmosphere which will surely spur Burns on.
