Dirrell has been taking things slow since being hurt from a right hand while sitting on the canvas after slipping in his last fight against Arthur Abraham.

Boxing fans have been anxiously waiting all this time hoping and praying that Dirrell will get back in the ring soon so he can continue his promising career. Finally, Dirrell appears to be ready to resume impressing fans. He’ll start slowly with this upcoming fight against a likely 2nd tier opponent.

But after that, Dirrell says he wants to face either IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute or former WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.

Dirrell doesn’t want to waste time fighting Carl Froch again unless he has a title, which he probably won’t after he faces Andre Ward next month in the Super Six tourney finals.

If Dirrell and Froch do eventually fight again the bout will have to take place in a neutral venue this time because Dirrell can’t afford to travel to Froch’s home city of Nottingham, England and end up losing another controversial decision.

A lot of boxing fans thought Dirrell should have been given the decision in the Froch fight from 2009. However, Froch was fighting at home and two of the European judges working that fight gave it to Froch.

Dirrell would also be up for facing Mikkel Kessler if he can beat WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz in their fight on November 5th. Dirrell matches up well with Martinez, Bute and Kessler. He’s got the hand speed, the defensive ability and the power to beat all three.
