Vitali, 40, had recently rushed back to his native country of Ukraine to be present during a recent political incident. However, with very little time left before his bout next month, Vitali has opted to get back in training camp so he’ll be ready for this important fight.

Adamek, 34, has been sparring with hard hitting American contenders Deontay Wilder and Malik Scott among others. The 6’7” Wilder can mimic Vitali in terms of right hand power, but he’s not as large or as skilled as him. Scott, 6’3”, likely won’t be able to do much other than show some of the power that Adamek will be getting hit with in this fight.

Thus far, Vitali hasn’t had much difficulty defending his World Boxing Council title since winning it with a stoppage victory over then champion Samuel Peter in 2008. Vitali has beaten the likes of Juan Carlos Gomez, Chris Arreola, Albert Sosnowski, Kevin Johnson, Shannon Briggs and Odlanier Solis. Only Johnson gave Vitali a half way decent fight and that was only because of Johnson’s excellent jab. But he spent the majority of the fight on the ropes trying not to get hit with Vitali’s right hands and left hooks. It was a one-sided 12 round decision victory.

Adamek moved up in weight from the cruiserweight division in 2009 to chase bigger paydays. He’s take a rather soft road unfortunately, steering clear of the younger talented heavyweights and focusing on the old lions for the most part. Adamek has fought Michael Grant, Andrew Golota, Kevin McBride, Vinny Maddalone, Chris Arreola and Jason Estrada. By choosing mainly older guys, Adamek is still pretty much a question mark in terms of how he’ll do against Vitali.
