Prediction: Khan to fight Lamont Peterson next

By William Mackay: There has been a lot of talk about WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan fighting the winner of the September 17th fight between Erik Morales and Lucas Matthysse for the vacant WBC light welterweight strap. However, Khan may end up being blocked at that end by Timothy Bradley, who reportedly has been given a deal by the WBC to fight the winner of the Matthysse-Morales fight if he wants it.
Khan wants no part of Prescott, who viciously knocked Khan out in one round three years ago. Khan has no desire to try and avenge that loss. Since Prescott is likely to beat McCloskey, that’s another avenue for Khan that is effectively cut off because of the wrong guy coming out on top. When the smoke clears, there’s only Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO’s), the light hitting fighter that recently earned the IBF mandatory spot by beating Victor Cayo.
Peterson is the guy that Khan will likely fight. He’s not someone that boxing fans want to see Khan fight, as they’re more interested in seeing Khan fight Maidana or Prescott again rather than weak punchers like Peterson or old guys like Morales. Boxing fans have a list of guys that they want Khan to fight and they are as follows: #1. Prescott, #2. Maidana, #3. Matthysse, #4. Morales, #5 Michael Katsidis, and coming in a distant #6. Peterson.
Is it any surprise then that Khan would fight the guy that boxing fans least want him to fight? Not me. Khan is being maneuvered around the dangerous threats to make sure he gets to his Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in one piece next year. Don’t expect Khan to be put in with any additional punchers before the Mayweather fight, which Khan will badly lose. That’s a given.

Bradley shouldn’t be given an opportunity against nobody, first of all he doesn’t attract a crowed at all, second he is a coward and third he isn’t that good, i am sick of his mess, he is a midget and sucks. Khan is the “One” he is it he is the man period.

Then call out Mayweather! But knowing Khan he will fight Lamont Peterson then think hes ready for Floyd? No…Khan has unfinished business to take care of at 140.

Prescot isnt going anywhere so Khan can fight him whenever he feels like it, If i was Khan i would fight prescot as my last fight before retirment. And i would make sure he gets KTFO

We could all say that Tim Bradley also is being maneuvered to avoid a potential banana skin to get a shot at manny or floyd, as soon as Khan offered the 50/50 split Timmy backed down. so why is it only khan getting the all criticism. A Real Prediction
Bradley would not take the fight because it wouldn’t make sense. Why would Bradley fight for a belt that he gave up for free? As for Khan i think he would definitely fight the winner out of Morales and Mythess, And regardless of what people say i think if Morales beats Maythese then that makes him a real opponent. As for Peterson, he will have no objections with Khan fighting Morales/Maythese because he is waiting for Khan to move up in weight and vacate the belts.

This William Mackay guy lol, I’ve been reading this site for couple of years(keeping with boxing news), and this guy always has something say about Amir Khan. Whats this problem? We all know what happened to Khan against Prescott, but what we have to remember is, Khan was fighting at 135, which i thought was to small for a guy like Amir Khan. He loss the fight and couple of fights later moves upto 140. At 140 he has fought a number of fighters whom people would consider top fighters, and to tell you the turth he’s looked good and beating them comfortable. I’m a big Khan fan, and the 10th round against a guy whos consider the most hard hitting boxer in division, was the round I’ve seen Khan. He was getting hit with bombs, but the guy with the questionable chin didn’t get knocked out! now i don’t about anyone else, but if it was any of the other 140 fighter i think they would have gone down. We need to give props to Khan, and i’m glad his providing writer such as, mackay wrong fights after fights.
