Pavlik’s trainer doesn’t know when Kelly will fight again

By Allen Fox: Former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32 KO’s) hasn’t fought since his poor performance against Alfonso Lopez last May in which he struggled to beat an unknown fighter by a 10 round majority decision. Pavlik was supposed to have fought on August 6th against Darryl Cunningham in a fight that would have payed Pavlik $50,000.
Pavlik thinks he should have received more money for both fights, but it’s hard to agree with him because lost his titles to Sergio Martinez last April and has only fought once since then. Pavlik is no longer a champion, and usually when a fighter gets beaten as bad as Pavlik did against Martinez, they see their pay drop significantly. Pavlik hadn’t been a very busy champion before the Martinez loss, fighting only twice in 2009, and once in 2010. He was plagued with a hand issue that eventually required surgery to fix.
Pavlik’s trainer Jack Leow doesn’t know when Pavlik intends on fighting again, saying to Cleveland.com “I couldn’t give you a yes or a no about what’s going to happen. I haven’t talked to Kelly since it [Cunningham fight] was cancelled. If he wants to fight, we’ll move forward.”
That doesn’t sound very promising, does it? You have to wonder Pavlik has his heart in the sport anymore. He turned down a lot of money for the Bute fight and it’s unlikely he’ll get that kind of offer against any other fighter, especially now.

If he won 1st fight at 50k then next fight at 1.3million.1.35 for two fights is good if he could’ve won the 1st….. Maybe the Ghost won’t be seen again….. I thought the next great white hope….. Clear your head bro$$$$$$$$$$$$$
all you haters, don’t know sxxt about boxing or Pavlik. Pavlik beat Miranda #1 contender, knockout Taylor when he wasunbeatable and did it twice. Had both titles for 3 yrs deffended it 5 times, paper champ, fxxk off. I hope Bute puts the rest of money up to give Pavlik a fight. Bute shouldnt be ibf champ in one of his fights last year the ref gave hime 17 seconds. Last i heard standin 8 count Pavlik would destroy him, so all you haters learn boxin you make me sick,oh andKelly put ytown on the map not mancini.
Whoever that was that said Kelly took his belt from a paper champion is a bonafide doughhead. I wish Kelly could get things together. There was a time not long ago he was my favorite fighter. Now I get all excited whenever there’s news of him fighting, only to have him pull out or fake a staff infection. You’re a huge disappointment, Kelly. The real “Ghost” is from Gilroy California.

Pavlik Said at least 2 times that he wanted a Rematch at 168 with Sergio. Sergio Declined! Only reason he didnt take his rematch clause is because he couldnt make 160 anymore.

Kelly did as Great as he did While Drinking In training. Imagine a Sober/100% focused Kelly Pavlik in the ring! whew!

@diego luna….. Paper champion?????? He took the belt from taylor who had dethroned hopkins who had not lost in over seven years. He took the belt from the top guy in the devision at the time. He should have did rematch with martinez but refused. Unless he kicks the drinking habbit its over for him.
I have always liked Pavlik, even after the Hopkins fight. If Pavlik can fight like he did in his first fight against Jermain Taylor, he can be a force again. If not, he’s done.
Pavlik is drunk every day his career is over he is getting more tattoos a complete mess and a disgrace to his family and town. fade away addict man. fade away please.
