Maidana in superb shape, ready to obliterate Guerrero on August 27th
By Dan Ambrose: Knockout artist Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) is looking in excellent shape for his August 27th bout against challenger Robert Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 KO’s) for a fight that will be taking place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The Maidana-Guerrero fight is likely going to be a war, as Maidana fights in only way and that’s straight ahead with every punch thrown with knockout intentions.
Guerrero was a good puncher at featherweight and super featherweight, but has lost his power since moving up to the lightweight division. And now Guerrero is moving up yet another division to the light welterweight class. Guerrero won’t be able to make a dent against Maidana, but it will be interesting to see if Guerrero will try. If he fights on the move, he’s going to stink up the joint and not win fans.
Guerrero wants to not only beat Maidana, but also put on an entertaining enough fight where he’ll win fans and create a demand for him to fight guys like Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao. Unfortunately the only way that Guerrero can accomplish this is by standing in front of Maidana fighting him. That’s where Guerrero may have some problems because he’ll be fighting the bigger, stronger Maidana’s game by choosing to mix it up with him.
Guerrero is roughly the same height at Maidana, but he doesn’t have his brute strength. Guerrero has to really load up on his shots to come close to the power that Maidana has, while Maidana punches with huge power every shot. It’s routine for him to land with big power, because he’s as strong as an ox. Guerrero won’t be able to match his power and will have to make a decision – to box and survive or slug and get destroyed. My guess he’ll stink up the joint by running.

hold evewrything Pavlik just called Guerrero.
Looks like we are all wrong afterall…
its been caanceld due to a shoulder injury by guerrero
Maidana by KO.
Guerrero will outbox Maidana and make him look silly,Guerrero by unanimous dicision.
easy Ko for maidana
This looks like a Katsidis repeat. Guerrero will do his thing and win a easy UD or late stoppage. The win is more important then the way it’s done for Guerrero right now.
maidana he’s not the best welterweight but he won the fight vs khan(tomato can)guerrero he’s a litter better then maidana but he has no power what’s o ever. these will be hard to score becouse maidana will lose all the rounds but there is a chance that guerrero will be down at least ones for each and every round.hard fight . if maidana fight like in morales fight he will lose a decision .
this will be a war. guerrero needs to fight outside to win and maidana needs to fight inside. but i predict the winner to be maiden he will wear down guerrero and win by ko
Khan is trash n overrated guerrero will win by UD or late KO
WTF how has Khan avoided Maidana?? how many fights ago did they fight??? You lot are a bunch of Dum Dums
It won’t even be close. Guerrero will win by a landslide.
Maidana is the Juan U r a n g o of the lightweight division. Trust me on that one. He has no technique whatsoever and that’s why he will lose to guys like Khan and Guerrero. In fact, if Ortiz fought him again, Ortiz would KO him. Maidana got lucky against Victor.
After Guerrero wins this fight, he will fight Marquez. That’s if, of course, Manny doesn’t send Juan Manuel into permanent retirement.
@ Boxing fan– Comments like yours are the reason why people don’t like Pacquiao fans. @ Mr. Expert in my eyes Maidana beat Khan, and if Cortez would’ve let Maidana box in the inside Khan would have been KO’d.
Either way- Guerrero wins.
pacquiao will ko both of them in 5 rounds!stop hyping them…
Guerrero is getting knocked out. As for Maidana he had his chance to beat Khan and could not get it done. Next time he gets stopped by Khan in a one sided beatdown.
I feel bad for Maidana I really do… here is why, Maidana fought Chop Chop, Ortiz, Morales, and now Guerrero.. Khan in the other hand has not fought anyone worth mentioning besides a corrupted victory over Barrera, and we all know what happened when he faced Maidana…. Unfortunately Maidana will loss against Guerrero, Khan will never give him the rematch and there is no way in hell that Khan will face Guerrero..
Maidana KOS Guerrero . Khan still dodge’s Maidana
Maidana was robbed Like Agbeko was by a ref. Joe Cortez to be exact Maybe Khan will be forced to fight Maidana again.Khan will have to be forced because he will NEVER do it wilingly
8/27 is my Birthday, and since I am a life time fan of Boxing which is some 68 years.
I am happy to see fighters like Miadana and Guerrero in a Match , I am sure that Both men will come to FIGHT…..They will not complain run or Quit……They will give their all……IO do hope that the Judges and the Ref. are fair. which sadly is not always the case ..May the Best Man that night win
Maidana is one punch man..
Guerrero by unanimous decision
Will jab the argentines face to a pulp
I dont thik it will stink up the place if he runs, the best match ups are when these styles collide
I like maidana i hope one day he will win a world title he deserves to. Guerrero is however a more complete package if you like, more skillful and technical. Of course hes an unknown quantity at light welter but hes shown he can move up weights already, dont see this to have too much bearing. I wouldnt be surprised if guerrero wins on points by being sharp, fast and technical, or also if marcos chino wins by pure aggression equalling points or stoppage win. Hope its a good fight anyway.
Def. watching this one!
looking forward to this match up but think a win on points or a late ko for maidana.
Marquez busted up Katsidis and ko’d him.Guerrero didnt even score a knockdown! So i agree that Guerrero needs to jab and stay outside.Conditioning is the key for Robert.
guerrero has to run to win but thats not a bad thing at that level you do what you can to win not entertain
@ Micky— Neither has Guerrero.
this should be a great fight… what an awesome match up.
Chino has never been stopped
